Morning All and Evening Kim,

Still dry here but a bit cloudy at present.

William thanks for the pics. There's some lovely views there and Carmel looks well. It seems like you had a lovely day out in the sunshine.

I am getting the dreaded Error page this morning so am posting in the hope I can get to the last page.

William Report 7 May 2013 08:25

Morning all, up bright and early here and it is lovely and sunny. Hope it's fine where you all are. Had the dreaded ERROR message this morning, always seems to be before 9am! Wake up sleepy-head GR!!!
Had to get on here via Google Log In then 50 page steps at a time :-(

Hope my email pictures get through to you all. Agree with Mel about your garden photos Frank, looks great, shame the blossom doesn't last long. I LOVE your tree that is growing sideways! How do you manage to grow them like that? LOL. Next door-but-one have a tree that blossoms, the blossoms blow all over our lawn and it looks like it's been snowing then.

Our lovely day out yesterday did us the world of good. We both had a good nights sleep last night (early to bed) and I didn't fall asleep on the sofa in front of the TV last night. As a result we both feel much better this morning.
Catch You All Later On. Have a nice day.

Frank lovely pics of the garden. I forgot to say that earlier.

I can't find a wedding for Chalrs and Eliza and I have put it on the find Ancestors board and nobody has come up with one either.

Has Ros got home safe and sound yet?

William Report 6 May 2013 20:01

Hi Folks, thanks for missing me, Frank & Jane - but I have been keeping my beady eye on you all, make sure your are all (mis)behaving!

I've been keeping low since Friday as a certain incident has made me a bit shame faced - literally. Friday afternoon around 5pm, lovely sitting in our garden on the bench, Carmel gone up for a nap, and me eating a square of choccy straight from the fridge. Snap, the next thing the crown of my middle tooth is in my mouth along with the chocolate! So, with only three teeth left at the top I was somewhat desperate. You may all recall I'd lost a tooth earlier in the year and had a plate I couldn't get on with. So Saturday morning first thing I went along to see my dentist. No, he couldn't glue the crown back on, it had broken the top of the tooth with it. So I have to go 8.20am Thursday morning to have the root out, then back again at 3.30pm to have an impression taken. Then the middle tooth will be added to the plate I can't get on with :-(
Then tomorrow at noon, Carmel has to go to the clinic in Nuneaton to have her toe nail off including the bed so that it won't grow back badly, as it did in the past. Bandage and a big slipper and a bit of limping about for her. Hey ho, don't us pair have fun.

So, yes Frank, I did take Carmel out today, her suggestion. We had a nice drive as far as Stuanton Harold Hall in Leicestershire. Today is the anniversary of when her eldest son, Alan, died in 1997 - and he was in Staunton when it was a hospice, and spent his last days there. We have a tree planted down by the lake in his memory. Also, in the old church adjoining the hall, there are memorial books for all the patients that died there, which the National Trust guide opened to the day for us and left in the cabinet on display. Sounds very morbid but on a lovely day like today it was lovely to see all the visitors enjoying the sunshine and the lovely views.
I don't know if Ann knows that area but I'll put some photos out by email for you all to see. It's a lovely spot, and there is the Ferrers craft centre and a garden centre in the grounds. Nearby is Bredon on the Hill, worth a visit to the church at the top and the views from there. In the village is the old round 'lock-up' for the criminals of the days gone by.
After we left there, we drove on past the East Midlands Airport, through Donington and on to Long Eaton. Carmel's cousin's widow lives there and she was delighted to see us. We had a good old catch up and like anyone connected with Ireland, she insisted on feeding us and plying us with tea etc until it was time for us to leave. So, it wasn't a sad day, Alan would have loved it and he would have been pleased that so many people enjoyed such a lovely day. I think I said before, Alan was much more like a son to me than a step son - we were very close.

Right, I'm off to get those photos emailed off. C Y A L

Oh Ann you are in the dog house too lol That makes 2 of us then lol.
Who filled in the ditch? Your Neighbour? Naughty Naughty if they did.We all know what problems ditches cause when filled :-S

Mandy, Lacey and little William at the crawling stage!!!Janice said William is pulling himself up on furniture now.He will be 1 in June.My Nephew(Williams daddy ) is having a do ,so we will going down to that.

Hannah and John have been up Liverpool way to his parents and for Hannah to meet his Grandparents. She think she might be going to Ireland at some point to meet other relies !!!!! Serious stuff me thinks :-D.They went to Chester(Lovely name :-D) today.I have always fancied going there..She said it is really nice but a day would probably do it.

I just realised that I am peeling!!!! That must be from when I got sunburn down at Fitz's the other week.He is in Barnstable (not sure I have got the spelling right there) CAT SITTING lol. Some friends asked if he would go and look after their cats while they are away.I'm sure he has taken himself of for day trips. He was hoping to go to Lundy Island.I will see him later this week so will no doubt hear all about it.

I am waiting for the second programme 'Vicious' tonight at 9.I enjoyed the first one last week.
Tomorrow I have the Gas man and the Surveyor for the new windows. So I won't be going far.
Dinner up .BBL...........No Pat ?? Did she say she was away this weekend?

Mandy OH was hoping he could dig it out about 10 foot of the ditch so the water could return there from nextdoors garden and not need to flow into ours to reach the ditch. Digging it out and laying pipes would do the trick, but it would mean digging out over 40 feet of it and all the 5 foot high brambles and barbed wire over it. I must get OH to have another look as I don't know whether it has been filled in even further beyond the next neighbours as well!! The trouble is the ditch wasn't filled in by this neighbour, it was the previous neighbour that was there before that would have done it as they put a gate to the field in the back fence when they lived there.

He's managed to get the door back on now, but I've been told to be CAREFUL as it isn't as good as it was before!! :-0 :-S lol.

Yes Frank, I'm sure we found he was a shipping agent before. Not so easy to trace his family when you get that far back, but I'll have a try later on.......greenhouse needs tucking up now.

Frank

Frank Report 6 May 2013 19:30

I'm back home from the BBQ.

First time I have been round, smashing garden and so big, to what they had next door.

I sat under one of these big blinds that come out from the wall, with his M & D and old family friends from Malaysia. We put the world to right and had a good time chatting, eating and DRINKING. It's a good job the weekend is over I can't stand the pace.

Charles Bedford was my Gt Gt. grandfather, I wanted to know his parents and family. Thanks Mel, for what you have found for me. I will add that to my tree.

My, you all have been busy in the garden. Have you killed anything today Jane ??? lol lol

It's a beautiful summers evening here now, the sun is pouring through the conservatory, when the sun goes down I will pop out and water the pots and greenhouse.

Hope everybody is well, and not sun burnt. Trust Will and Carmel are safe and sound.

MillymollyAmanda Report 6 May 2013 18:56

So now you know why you got all the water in the garden then Ann, could OH dig out the earth and put a pipe so the water can flow through ,or is it too big a job ?although i suppose next door should have that done if it was them that filled the ditch in in the first place .

Ohhhh fancy pulling the compartment door off ..........you don't know your own strength !! :-D :-D :-D no he'll not let you forget that in a hurry !! :-D :-D

Annx Report 6 May 2013 18:53

I think the fresh air does make you feel tired Mandy. Your hubby sounds as if he is making great progress with things and getting on with the conservatory. I really wish the big windows opened in ours.....we need a few new panes as well as some are foggy now. Yes, tasty bacon rolls will help keep most men going with jobs! Little Lacey can't wait to keep up with her big sisters can she........I bet they have to watch their toys now she can 'motor'.

Lacey is now crawling ,she can go across the floor now at lightening speed !!

Well Frank your living it up this weekend with all these invites out !! :-D :-D bottles of Red yesterday and Beer today , bet you carn't wait for Ros to go away again!! :-D
Lovely photo's of your garden in the sunshine and nice to see all the blossom on the tree too.

Hubby's now having a nap, yesterday evening i nodded off about seven and woke at quarter to nine !! it must be all this pottering in the garden !! i must keep awake tonight :-D

Annx

Annx Report 6 May 2013 18:36

Afternoon All,

We were up early before 8.00am this morning and OH went out onto the field at the back to lower the height of the brambles at the back of our fence and to look at the ditch while our neighbour is away. He soon saw the problem.....the ditch has been completely filled in all along the length of nextdoor's back fence, so that's definitely the reason the water flooded her garden and poured into ours before runnining back into the ditch. If OH tries to dig the filled soil in the ditch back out again it will expose the bottom of her concrete fence posts and loosen her fence as the posts are nowhere near deep enough. :-S

We pottered around the garden for a couple of hours, weedkilling and handweeding and I planted 3 more things and pruned some dead stuff away. Then we showered and had poached eggs on toast before going to the craft fair near Derby. Thank goodness we were NT members, otherwise it would have been very expensive for what was there. We only had to pay to go into the craft fair (small), but non members were having to pay for car parking too, even if they didn't go in the house or gardens........well they called them gardens, but really it was just parkland with woodland walks. A lot of folk were chuntering. You had to be escorted in groups to go around the house and there was a 2 hour wait, yet it wasn't packed with people there. There were some little bags for sale, a bit similar to what I am making......oh my, the prices made my eyes water!! On the way home we called and had a pub lunch so that's us done for the day.

I have blotted my copybook though! I've said before how OH hates me touching anything in his car........well I opened the door of a little compartment that's in the door panel on his car (I keep my sunglasses in there) and it fell off!!!! :-0 I bet I won't hear the last of that for a long time!!

My word Frank, so many invites you are spoiled for choice!! That train set sounds fantastic. Thanks for sending the pics of your garden.....it is looking a real TREAT and the tree blossom looks beautiful!! :-D What is it you want to know about Charles Bedford??

Jane, I love outdoor salady lunches with crusty bread in this weather. What were the artichokes like? I have never tried them in any form.

Fiona, the princess's castle cake sounds very nice and I bet Sofia was thrilled with it too! I hope your head settles down again, it's been good that you have been able to do more lately.

No William again.........William I do hope you are both well.Maybe you have gone away for BH.
No Kim either .It's been a while now. <3 to all who are missing from the thread.

My favourite de-boned chicken from Wait**** again tonight. It has the tastiest marinade on it.I think Saute Potatoes too as they go nice with it and mixed veg.

They think they will be arriving back here at about 8.00 pm. Won't want a meal as they were going out for lunch. I bet my bank balance is taking a hammering <3 <3

Have just taken a photo of the cherry tree, will try to forward them on later.
