My word Frank , you'll have some fat birds in your garden if they can eat all those :-D

I bought some of the dried meal worms from Joll*ys this morning ,well the Starlings have had a field day eating them and the little Blue Tits didn't get a look in !!

Does any one use a jug water filter ? we use to have one donkey years ago and i see they are on offer in Tes*o's ,why i ask is because i carn't remember how long it takes to filter a jug full, and it doesn't tell you on the box , my kettle needs to go on twice to make all the family a drink when they come and i'd soon use a jug full ,although i suppose could always fill a bottle and store in the fridge .

It's so warm out ,i had to come in to cool off and get a drink .

Hi Ruby, have a lovely lunch today with your friends , the pies sounds good , i wonder what you will try today :-D
So you like your embroidery Ruby ,what sort of things do you embroider ?i like to do a little cross stitch ,knitting and crochet , and i'am going to have a go at some jewelry too ,you should see some of the lovely Jewelry that Ann has made .
I shall have to have a goggle to see where Piedmont is :-)

I live in Norfolk ,i'am married with one son and four grandchildren ,husbands a builder .
The others on the thread are all scattered about the country although you might know that as you've been popping in to read the posts .
I;ve never heard of a pressure canner ,is that the same as a pressure cooker ?
I should imagine the saw dust on the floor was to catch the blood as they cut up the meat :-S

Time for a cuppa i think .

Hello everyone,

I'm only just getting started for the day, and this is as far as I've got! I'm going out for lunch today with my sister and some other friends. On Wed. we go to a restaurant where you can have a piece of pie free, if you buy a meal. Last week I chose the peach pie and it was really good. The week before that I had Ooee Gooey Fudge, and it was good but so sweet and rich. One bite would have been enough, but I didn't waste a lick.

I live in the Piedmont of S. Carolina, about mid way between the coast and the Smokey Mtns. I have also lived in Georgia, and in Texas over the years.

Our weather is warming up. It reached about 22' yesterday and I sat outside most of the afternoon with my embroidery. We had had a couple of days rain, so everything is lovely and green and growing like mad. Most of the trees have leafed out - I have a Japanese maple at the front and with the sun shining on it, and a slight breeze, the colours were brilliant. The azaleas have almost gone over, and the irises are in full bloom. I dearly love the colours, especially of the Siberian iris.

I've planted 6 Roma tomatoes. I grew them from seed for my youngest son - they like to make their own sauce. They have a large pressure canner, and later on will can (bottle) green beans and other veg. I used to do all that when I had all the children at home, and made loads of pickles. I still like to grow a few pickling cukes because they're always nice and crisp.

I remembered something yesterday that I wondered about. I believe it was the butcher's shop, used to have sawdust on the floor. I wonder what the purpose of it was.

Almost forgot to tell you - home was and still is, Beautiful Wiltshire.

Ruby.

Thought of Maureen when I did some ironing this morning. I only did a little but at least it was better than none!! ;-)

Frank do you buy live mealworms for your birds?

Fiona Report 1 May 2013 11:22

Morning All, Evening Kim,

The day started with rain ( nothing new here) :-) but the sun keeps trying to pop out , there is STILL WIND but that chill factor has gone, yesterday was great, OH even sat outside for his lunch, if we have any more sun he will be taking his shirt off. :-D

No coffee today there is usually 4 of us , but 2 of the ladies have other plans they could not cancel, so the other lady and I decided to give it a miss to , by the time it gets to next Wednesday I will be longing for another coffee and a natter,

Did a big cupboard tidy out this morning of all Sofia's baby toys , clothes she has grown out of that her mum leaves here in case of accidents. put the clothes in a bag for daughter (if she doesn't use them for Matteo she sells them on e-bay and the toys in another box for Matteo when he starts to take an interest.
running out of boxes and space, also decide to throw out some of my dad's papers from the care home, don't think there's much point in keeping them,
already got lots of Birthday, Fathers day cards and other personal items which I want to keep fro sentimental reasons.

Morning all/Evening Kim,

Awake at 5.15 am. up by 6.30 tea and toast for breakfast with "MY MATE"

Have been and feed the birds, they are going through food as though it's going out of fashion. Run out of fat sticks and meal worms now. I have ordered 10 kilos of fat sticks on ebay and 4 kilos of meal worms. Hope that lasts a bit longer.

Last Sat. Ros bought me a new summer short sleeved shirt, large size, when tried it on it was too small. She took it back yesterday, and the only size left was XXL It was like a tent on me.

It reminded me of my cloths during and soon after the war. They were always bought bigger than you needed. YOU WILL GROW INTO THEM, was my mothers words. By the time they fitted they were worn out :-D :-D

She's having trouble with the dyso# so I had better go and look at it. BBL

Nice to see Lesley posting again. Stay with us please. Your post about the caravan brought back a lot of our memories.

David the chances of getting the same bed in the same ward must be very high!! I hope you feel more comfortable after tomorrows op. Will you have the whole contraption off your leg or just the pins in the knee? Good luck we will all be thinking of you.

I have been up the border all afternoon. Boy do I ache..... :-| I may even feel worse tomorrow but I hop enot as I want to do more up there if I can. Today I pulled up all the blimmin bitter cress that have showered it seed far and wide as usual. I wanted to get it out now as the seed has'nt set yet, well some pods on it but they were'nt ripe enough to burst. It will go on a bonfire tomorrow. Oh had a good clear out on the new pond again and repotted some of the plants that were too big for their pots and got more blanket weed out. I put my tiny miny fish in it last week and have seen a couple of them since.

Caught what I think is Hogwart in the garden tonight and he now has a pink blob on the back of his head. He was still quite heavy but when I picked him up he could roll in a ball completely so must have lost a bit of weight with all the running around he is doing now. Put the camera down there again tonight. Also started feeding on the front awn as there was lots of hedgehog poo on it before oh cut it today.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 30 Apr 2013 21:25

David all the best for tomorrow ,you will be glad to get rid of the contraption after all this time i should think .

Jane, i'am watching Keeping Britain Alive The NHS i like all the medical programmes .

North Creake is here in Norfolk ,about five miles inland from the coast between Wells and Hunstanton .

Jane

Jane Report 30 Apr 2013 21:08

David you must be MRSA Free otherwise you won't be having any op done.

Ann yes it is the Benjamin Britten thing he is going to.It is the Centenary .

I will be dreaming about bl***y windows tonight . :-S :-S :-S.It's a right flipping game isn't it...Guess whose job it is to ring and haggle a little more tomorrow......ME
:-S(even though we were reasonably happy with the price quoted)...
I might even have nightmares about flying beds!!!!.The more I think about it the more I realise how damned lucky we were.I think because we were the first car and hit the red Triangle button ,the cars behind had just enough warning time and were able to slow down. When I looked back in the mirror the lane had just about come to a standstill behind the bed as it landed right across the left hand lane.

Pat Where is North Creake? Is it Yorkshire? I think you sent pics from there before.??
Just after you had Mocha.

Watching Keeping Britain Alive The NHS . I think it is a brilliant programme .

Well I managed to get back on !!

Did as I said, went into the garden and cut both lawns, trimmed round the edges, watered the greenhouse, and all the plants in the conservatory.

Going back to holiday camps, we use to take Lewis on these 3/4 day cheapies. We had some really good ones, and ONE that was beyond belief. Breen sands, with Ponti#s. We arrived to find the chalet hadn't been cleaned. I went back to the office and they sent cleaners in while we went out to eat. Lewis had made friends with some other boys, and played with them when we got back. Ros and I went to unpack, but to out total disbelief It still hadn't been cleaned . We wanted to move, but Lewis said please let us stay, I have made friends. So we stayed. The evening was horrible, condensation was running down the windows and walls. The carpet was stained with gawd knows what, and the beds were as hard as rock. Lewis got so cold in his bed, that he came into ours to get warm. The next day, we decided to come home. When I went to hand the keys in, the receptionist said "But Mr Bedford you still have THREE days to go" I said no way. I got a full refund plus £50.00 So on the way home we stopped for a slap up meal on them.!!!

Watching Real Madrid V Dortmand Not a great match, but it is football, better than Holby.

Glad you are over your close shave Jane, these people should be fined for not having these things secure.

Come on David, keep getting better a little at a time. Look after yourself Mate. !!

My ex FIL bought a beech hut at Walton on the Naze, that we used most Sundays through the summer. He then sold that and bought a Caravan in Felixstowe. It was soon after that, that I parted from my ex. But I know the children spent many happy holidays down there with the grandparents. When it was my time to have the children for the day, I would drive there and take them out, and return them, before the drive back to Kettering. Which during the school summer holidays was most weekends, if I didn't I wouldn't have seen them..

The op is to take some of the pins out
The nurse said any one testing positive for MRSA is given their own room.
Apparently it starts it the nose and throat.

Yes,what were the odds of getting the same bed in the same ward?
I'm expecting to be in for 3 / 4 days
I'd love to go from a walking frame to crutches.
