Windows all done now :-D :-D.He left at 3.I think for the number of windows plus door that were replaced a day and a half is really good going. The only one we haven't had changed is the French Door,as we had that done a few years ago.The only trouble with that one is it has a gold coloured handle and all the new ones are white. But the chap said he would get a white one to fit and come back and change it for us.
There is just a light covering of gritty dust now to deal with.I've done the Kitchen tops and floor so it is clean to cook. The rest can be done over the next few days, then the curtains can go back up in the lounge.Chris will have to rescrew the poles back into place once they are up.So now all the back of the house is done :-D Next year will be the turn of the front of the house.

Have we heard from Kim since her Birthday? Did she manage to go out for the meal?

Good news on Carmel's toe then William :-D.Must be your nursing skills ;-)

Mandy I hope you have good weather at the coast tomorrow for your Anniversary.
Thats 3 of us with Anniversaries in one week !..Plus Maureen's son getting married.

You behaving yourself Frank? left on your own today I see :-D

Thanks Ann for the pics :-D.You have ~NO WEEDS on your patio !!!!! Clean as a whistle. We just have so many here it's ridiculous :-S.I yanked a load out in the front earlier along side the fence that belongs to next door. They have neglected their side so badly we are getting the Ivy,Brambles and all kinds of weeds coming through on our side :-S

Hi everyone else.I'm going off to have a nice cold drink now .

Afternoon all, what a nice sunny day once again, bit windy here though - and I DO mean the weather :-D

Took Carmel to the podiatry clinic for noon today and they are extremely pleased with the healing progress her toe has made. The chiropodist said that for the time it's been done that it's healing remarkably well. Good news.
We shall be at the George Eliot hospital tomorrow afternoon for a check up on mouth regarding the lichen planus. Boy, don't we have fun!!!

Heard from SinL via Facebook this morning on the day of his actual birthday. Early this morning he was sitting on the decking outside a relatives bungalow in the delightful seaside village of Rush, just North of Dublin, enjoying the morning sun and looking at the sea. Alright for some!

Emailed another photo of the sky from here at 5.30am this morning - and yes I did go back to bed and have another nap.

Ann, the garden etc in your photos look great. As always you are an ace with the camera.

Morning folks/evening Kim.

Yes wall to wall sunshine here too today.

Ros will be going out with Carolyn for a mooch round so I will have a day on my own. to do as I please,

Last night went totally different to what we thought. As it was a nice evening, I suggested we went for a drive, and find a restaurant for a nice meal. We only got as far as the M 1 junction and Ros decided a Harvester meal would be O,K. There is one just off Jcn 15. The salad bowl was perfect, but the main meal was CRA# Ros had a combo of scampi and prawns, and I had the F & C. The chips were lukewarm and the peas were dried up. It wasn't worth complaining as they were so busy, we were home within an hour and half.

Jane, I so remember as a child, sitting on the garden seat under the rose arch, poding peas on a Sunday morning, it was part of summer. Being able to go out all day with just a T shirt and shorts and know it would not rain, and if it did, we would either sit out in it to cool down or shelter under the trees.

Jane, I could never put up with that from Jess. One of my house rules were, if the boys weren't up by 9.00am Sunday, they never got breakfast. So they slept in till 11.00 or so. just to show me the didn't care. !!!

Well I can see you were all busy yesterday, and I hope you all enjoy your day today. Straw hat for me today, My bonce is getting a bit red. :-D :-D

Morning everyone,Evening Kim,

Not a cloud in the sky ,only the white vapor trails from the planes going over .

Jane ,sounds as if the window men are doing great getting the windows all done in two days, you'll soon be all straight again, and you've had good weather to get the curtains all washed too.

Hubby's home today getting more plastering done , he's doing round the window and over the back door today .
Tomorrow we're off out for the day as it's our wedding anniversary ,we thought we would go to the coast and have a bit of lunch some where .

Yes on a day like this we would be off with our fishing nets to catch butter flies and a jam jar to put any fish you caught in , meat paste sandwiches and a bottle of squash , the sandwiches would be warm by the time you ate them !!
We would just go off into the meadows picking the wild flowers never thinking about what might be hiding in the grass !! never gave it a thought about grass snakes and Adders!! :-S :-S

Ann, i have a little dust in the kitchen too !! :-S :-S :-D

Hi All,

'Oh what a beautiful morning' as the song goes! The window cleaner has just arrived so that is good as I want to go out a bit later. OH has gone to a meeting in Fleckney and we are hoping to rendezvous at the carvery if he gets done in time. We are both full of aches and pains from our efforts in the garden yesterday so it will be good to take it a bit easier today. Even though he was mostly in the shade painting the fence yesterday OH managed to get the back of his neck burnt with the sun. He won't like having a shirt and tie on today! I want to clean the kitchen before I go before the sun gets round the back.........I noticed all the dust in there yesterday!!

Jane your windows will soon be finished now and looking great. You brought a few memories back for me about picking stuff in my parent's garden. I used to like picking (and eating!) the peas. Then there were broad beans and runners to pick. I loved the furry insides of the broad bean pods. They never grew soft fruit but there were 2 massive cooking apple trees, an eater and victoria plum that would swarm with wasps when the fruit was ripe. No joke picking the plums then!

I took a nice pic of the field at the back this morning........it's only a field, but like Jane says it reminds me of playing in meadows as a little girl, often to catch grasshoppers or swish about with my butterfly net!!

I missed that prog Mel.......what a shame, I would have liked it. OH usually tells me about things like that as well......!!:-S I bet you will have a great day at Rosemoor, it will be beautiful with all the Rhodos and Azaleas.

Well I better get going on the kitchen now........ :-S

Morning/Evening All
The man is here beavering away.He is just going to take out the back door and adjoining window.I am sneezing my head off already but think it is the Hayfever.
I won't be staying downstairs while he is working ,so will maybe take myself down the garden and my Kindle.

This is the kind of weather I remember from my childhood. It was ALWAYS sunny in the summer :-D :-D...or so it seemed. As a little girl before we moved near the beach I would spend hours picking peas, beans,Raspberries Strawberries, Blackcurrants Goosegogs at the bottom of our garden. It always felt like a bit of an adventure down there amongst all the canes and greenery hidden away from the house.Well I assumed I was hidden but am sure Mum or Dad could see me (probably stuffing myself with lovely soft fruits ;-) ) For some reason I never remember Janice down there with me.She might have been too young.
I would then sit on the back door step with a saucepan and the enamel colander shelling the peas......Oh Happy Days :-D :-D

Now I'm going to put a couple more curtains in the machine.BBL

William Kim is MeGirl on the thread and she is in Auatralia.

Have been in the garden like most of you today. Oh has been doing more hard weeding on the border and I had a little go in the tunnel. My cosmos are up and away in just a few days! I was so surprised to see them. Tied up some tom plants and watered the seed trays.

Oh is having back trouble! When he sits down he has a job to straighten up..

LOL Ann Jess is always like this :-S :-S.Needs a firework up her backside :-D :-D
I do love her ,but she needs a bit of oomph.
Yes early morning. But he said he will arrive and get the windows ready on the drive first .At least it is just downstairs windows tomorrow,so no problem rushing to the bathroom and being naked lol.Chris will be up and about anyway as he is off early to Waitro**.
He has just got in from work and is doing the rounds inspecting the windows. He is never here when all the muck and grot is going on and swans in when I've cleared up .To be honest there was only one window that came out which caused quite a bit of debris.A lot of brick gubbins.I had to give one of the settees a good wiping down with a wet cloth.(good job it's leather).
:-D

William KIm is our friend in Australia :-D

Annx Report 3 Jun 2013 19:06

Maybe Jess is making the most of it before she has a job and getting up for work................but she obviously feels completely at home at your place!! The men have done well almost finishing your windows today.........I see they will be back very early tomorrow, so another early start for you!! :-0

Our window cleaners should have come today but didn't turn up. I bet they come tomorrow morning instead now when we will be out. :-S

I sat watching the little Bluetits whizzing in and out of nextdoor's nest box a while ago......must see if I can get a pic. I don't think there can be many greenfly left in our garden now!! Obviously their eggs have hatched. and there are customers in the restaurant!

We had a salad with hot jersey royals, Salmon (OH had smoked Mackerel) and little crumbed, melted camembert cheeses today, followed by a fresh melon, banana, grape and mango salad with low calorie icecream. It was nice to be picking own lettuce, radish, rocket and spinach.

Jane

Jane Report 3 Jun 2013 17:39

Ann ,I'm glad you got somewhere with the company and hope you don't have to wait too long to get your keys back :-D
I wasn't impressed with Jess this morning.Neither was James. He told her she was embarrassing. She is terrible at getting up in the mornings. :-S.She did make a big jug of juice for the men :-)I don't think she liked it much when I called her drippy drawers lol
Only one chap coming tomorrow at 7.30.his son who was the other will be a Daddy tomorrow as his girlfriend is being induced so he will be at the hospital. He looks about 16,but is 21.
I've just put the bedroom curtains back up and am very pleased with the new windows. One pane though has a crack in the top corner so that will have to be replaced.I reckon it will all be finished by early afternoon tomorrow.

William it sounds like it was a grand day yesterday :-D and nice weather too.

Frank I hope your neighbours won't be expecting you to do their lawn each time :-S
I hope you are rewarded :-DIt sounds like your lounge is like a flower shop.4 vases !! It must have been a huge Bouquet :-D :-D

Meg is still here. Her owners are in Portugal for a week and the Grandson who lives with them has the week off work so he is looking after her.He asked if I could let her out for a wee about 2pm and said he would be back about 4............he hasn't arrived yet :-S,so I'm glad I decided to bring Meg here. She is stretched out on the floor beside me at the moment. She is getting on a bit now.I think 13 and her legs are so stiff bless her cotton socks. She keeps tripping up :-(

Meg just gone Luke(grandson) has been for a Tattoo .It is all up his arm and is wrapped in cling film !!!!.He said it took 4 hours :-0 and is still not finished.
Oh well if he can put up with the pain lol

Pasta for Chris and me tonight.James and Jess are having something different which they can get themselves.

I don't know what happened there, part of the post never went through.

I was saying The meal won't be hot with Veg.. I have some king prawns and mackerel fillets in the fridge, if Ros fancies a salad. If not there is Scampi for Ros.and various fish for me, with chips and tartare sauce.

So we won't go hungry.

Frank

Frank Report 3 Jun 2013 16:23

IT'S GOT (HOT) here too Jane.!!!

I have been out in the sun most of the day, I covered my front, shoulders and legs in sun tan lotion and sat reading my book. The battery is getting low, so have put it on charge for tonight in bed.

Ros has just gone out into the sunshine, she can't take a lot as it brings her out in a rash, where as I can soak it up for hours.. Ros believes I am related to a foreign family, by the way my body colours up !!!

Thanks for your good wishes folks. I still remember the day as though it was 35 years ago ha ha ha No really it never seems that long ago., even though a lot of water has passed under the bridge.

I am going for a shower now, to get rid of the suntan lotion. and start to prepare a meal for tonight. Nothing So we won't go hungry.

See you later.

Even gotter here Mel!! lol :-D

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO FRANK AND ROS. <3 <3 What a lovely day for it too, just like the big day itself. Me, I've had to come in.....too hot! :-S I hope your neighbours have a big THANK YOU and box of choccies for you when they come back......you are very good to them doing all that.

Perfect for your windows too Jane and not windy either. Are they white windows or do you have the wood effect ones? Fancy Jess behaving like that. I would have to say something unless she was ill. In her shoes I would be outside pulling weeds up to help out or offering to do something useful if I could.......like get the chaps who are working a cuppa.

What a great day you had William and now another nice day to rest and refect on it all.

The company who fitted the porch cupboard have emailed me to say they will send someone to try and reunite me with my car keys!!!! lol I just have to wait till they can fit it in.

OH has almost painted the rest of the side fence now, except for the trellis on top. I think the Holly tree showed it's disapproval at being pulled away from the fence.......he will be showing me the battle scars later!! How he gets paint all over his hands and the brush handle is a mystery, but at least the fence looks good and he put cardboard down where the slabs are to catch any drips. :-D :-D

Happy belated (?) Birthday to Kim - only I'm not sure who Kim is??? Am I having a senior moment??

Happy Anniversary to Frank and Ros also, hope it's a good day, looks like you scored on the weather.

We had a lovely family 60th birthday party with our SinL yesterday. All met up at the Royal Court hotel just outside Coventry. Contingents from Essex and Ireland. The little ones, Ralph, Maggie and Grace had a great time running about all over the lawn (well, Grace actually watched the other two). There was a carvery meal, quizzes, goody bags and there was a balloon launch. Everyone had a tag to tie on the helium filled balloons and we all went out onto the lawns and launched them off. Goodness knows if we'll ever know where any of them landed, they had SinL email address on them. And of course the weather picked up, the sun shone and the wind dropped, who could have asked for more?

Taking it easy today, pottered around in the garden had a nice lunch, seems like summer might have arrived.

My Neighbours dog Meg is here .She was looking for Chester :-( :-(.It's the first time she has been here since he has gone.
