Thanks for the replies. I have been unable to find a death certificate for him anywhere in England or Ireland. Without that I can't access his military records from GOV.UK and the Irish guards archivist can only find a discharge record for 1959.
Not sure where to go next.
Any ideas?

Service records for personnel who left the army after around 1920 are still with the MOD and are not online.

Have a look here to see how to order them (cost is £30 ans they may take several months to arrive):-

His military records would still be with the MOD. Unless you are a direct descendent, you may not be able to purchase a copy unless he has died some while ago.

This is the link for obtaining UK service records:

Willesden is in the London Borough of Brent. FMP holds ER to 2014, although its been possible to opt out of the commercial roll since 2002.
There doesn't seem to be an entry for him in Hendon, Willesden or the London Borough of Brent.

You could try searching for variations on 192.com.

As you believe he was born c1930, there is always the possibility he has died. Online records only go up to 2006. If his estate went to Probate, you could look for an entry on https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills
Unfortunately, without buying a copy of the Probate/Will, there is no way of being sure where the person died or even if its the correct person.

Hi.I am looking for Timothy O'Brien who was discharged from the Irish guards in 1959 and believed to be living in the Willesden, Hendon areas of London or somewhere close. if anyone knows him please contact me. If anyone has access to military search records I would appreciate if you could look for me as I've spent a fortune on subscriptions and getting nowhere. His service number was 22779754 . Date of birth around 1930
Thank you in anticipation.
