Thanks for all the help. I think some of the info is my grandad and he's 1st marriage. He's pictures don't show the cap badge very clear. I'm going to ask my uncles to see if any have any better pictures.

Not above badge is it? (or have you tried googling badge details?)

Is the photo of him a clear one? You should be able to identify his regiment from the cap badge.

There are quite a number of medal records for men of that name - but no way to know if any of them was your John. No dates of birth or NOK info.

Also a few pension records, the images of which can be viewed on Fold3, which requires a sub .

ErikaH Report 19 Jul 2019 21:30

If the 1915 marriage to Marland is his, the cert won’t help. The record is on lanopc site, and he was a labourer at the time

christopher

christopher Report 19 Jul 2019 21:25

I think that might of been hes 1st marriage in 1915

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 19 Jul 2019 21:20

1953 is not relevant to your enquiry

christopher

christopher Report 19 Jul 2019 21:18

He's second marriage was to Doris Bennett in 1953

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 19 Jul 2019 21:08

Be aware that only about 30% of WW1 records have survived

When and who did he marry?

If he’s the one who married in 1915 the cert would be worth getting for info about his occupation
