I have a photograph of my grandfather George Baker in Uniform and I have been told that he was in the Army but I don't know anything more than that. When I research his name it appears to be quite common so i am having problems finding MY grandfather. Does anyone have any suggestions where else I can search to trace him? I realise this is a big ask but having researched my maternal side back to 1700's. I am very frustrated with not being able to find Granddad so any suggestions will be very welcome. ThANK YOU irene.

His dates would be helpful - and birthplace.

When/who did he marry?

Where have you looked? We can't suggest 'where else' without knowing that............

UK WW1 records are online - if part of the 30% that have survived.

However records of anyone serving post 1920, including WW2 are still with MOD. This site will give you info. on how to obtain these records at a cost of £30 and a long wait to receive them if found.
