Are you able to give the name?
That might help people to search.

Did your person survive the war?

forceswarrecords lists a D J Murray, Pilot Officer, at RAF Foulsham in 1943.

Don't know if that's relevant or not.

EDIT:
I think that's Flying Officer Daniel James Murray (No 135153) , of 180 Squadron, who died 22 Jan 1943, son of Daniel and Ethel Murray of Heaton, Newcastle-on-Tyne.

Most WW2 service records are not online, but still with the MOD.

Do you have any idea of the age of the man you're looking for?
Did he marry, and/or have children?

No point in looking for the birth of a Murray in Scotland (or anywhere else) without knowing his first name.
Murray's a very common name!

I have marriage to son of person could i find out his fathers name from details i have thanks

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 9 Sep 2022 12:37

If the son married in England/Wales, the marriage cert will name the son's father.
Look for the marriage here - assuming it was before approx 1992:
https://www.freebmd.org.uk/search

and then order a copy (£11 if ordered online) , quoting the reference numbers and other details as given on FreeBMD - from here:
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/app_select.asp

You'll have to register on the GRO site.

If he married in Scotland, the cert will name both his parents.

Search for and order a copy of the cert here:
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

You'll have to register. The initial basic search is free, and then a copy of the cert costs £12 - assuming the marriage was in 1947 or later.

If it was before 1947 (which doesn't seem likely - but then I don't know when your RAF man's son was born ) you can view and print a copy of the original document on Scotlands People for 6 credits. Minimum purchase of credits: 30 for £7.50.
