lol ... We should have thought that the t could have been T:))
Ooh we were thinking along 1840 or 50, don't think we checked 1814...might be wrong, not sure without looking back.

I thought of Portugal, but not sure how the G a M A L P fits in.?
Could it be both Gibraltar and Portugal..?
the a is just a little a ( not as ,and or anything else )

while I'm here: congrats to Sandie and Daphne for my last night's clue: the answer was: the 1,000 Guineas Stake at Newmarket was first run on 28 April 1814 (apologies that I should have put 1T maybe for 1,000! Please don't hold it aginst me...!)

Claude Monet was a Founder of the French Impressionist Painters. Born on 14th.November.1840 his Painting, Impression Sunrise gave it's Name to the Term Impressionism now used.
Perhaps not the best grammatical way of phrasing it, but.. you got it.lol
