I was in Kuwait in 1991 and the city was quite modern but the people were the same.

You would like China Jackie,the people are very friendly and there is very little crime.If you know where to go you can get a 2 bedroom hotel suite with 2 bathrooms and a kitchen to cook if you want to for $45 a day.Ordinary hotel rooms are much cheaper. Of course there are luxury places if you want them too but that example is an ordinary clean respectable city hotel.

I never saw a woman at all in the airport in Kuwait Daff.
I was really scared though. Like you said none of them were smiling. Hubby got off for a stretch but I stayed put. There were a lot of people didn't get off the plane.
The plane pulled up right along this tin hut that sold things and as soon as we refueled we were off again lol It was so primitive

When I was in Kuwait Jackie all the men were over 6 foot tall in army uniforms with at least 1 machine gun and I think it is against the law to smile there.The women still have tattooed faces under their robes and the most magnificent costumes but they are see through hence the great black robes in public.They are very unfriendly too.

That is another country I would never go to,1 in every 4 people in Thailand have AIDS.
I would not want to get hurt and need to go to hospital there although I know people who go there for cheap plastic surgery.

Daff when we came to Australia many years ago our first stop was Kuwait.
In those days all it was was a little tin hut for the airport in the middle of the desert. I wouldn;t get off the plane I was so frightened. Men in dirty white robes were all sat aroung on hay stacks lol they really frightened me.
We landed at 2am in the morning and it was 98 degrees

Syria sounds like Kuwait the women are either in the army or hidden in black robes which I thought rather hypocritical and they have the worlds ugliest men all armed to the teeth.
OH's daughter went to U C L A university as an exchange with Melbourne University and she hated the U S A which surprised me she described it as the same as Australia only worse.

My niece sets off for Thailand in about 6 hours lucky thing
