I had some friends went to Guatamala and they loved it, they were taken into the jungle, stayed in a bungalow by the beach and said it was practically deserted, I wouldn't have been able to sleep so that's a place I will have to visit by Google lol...
Went to Syria once, dreadful, the army girls were walking round town up their armpits with guns, scared me half to death...

We loved Mexico Daphne but we did go to Cancun and that is very modern, we visited all of the tourist places, climbed the temples and went to the coast, it's beautiful and the people were lovely, never felt worried and one day have promised to go back, but I do understand where you're coming from, there are a lot of countries I would like to visit but wouldn't If I considered them dangerous, no matter what anyone says.

I would love to go to Mexico but OH considers all Latin America too dangerous and I am put off because there are no direct flights from here we have to go to the U S A then to Mexico and nothing would get me to go to the U S A.
