Good Morning Allan :-)

It's Alphabetical Songs 1st Anniversary! I've left a dedication to you on this page! ;-) ;-) ;-) :-D:-D :-D

Not very good :-(

The ceremony was only so-so and some people were upset, understandably, that it started early :-0

By that, I mean that as normal a notice was sent to every body advising of the start time and the time that visitors would be admitted.

The Lodge then altered the way it was opened but forgot to notify people so that some were late, even though they turned up at the 'correct' time.

When I was Master a couple of years ago, my lodge wanted to do the same thing, but they took the decision without my knowledge. Fortunately I found out in time as we had already sent our notices out, so I was able to open as per the Notice. I left my brethren with no doubts as to what I thought of their potential action. There was no brotherly love that night!! :-|

Also it was very hot yesterday (30c+) so the rooms were very hot and uncomfortable :-(

Sorry to hear that Allan! :-(

At least you weren't in charge! A little inconsiderate of them, for the visitors and for those taking part!

Silverside

Well that was the tone of the whole thing, Jem, people not being asked before their names' were included in the actual ceremony. And once a notice has been sent out you should stick to the times stated. Some people travelled a long way to be there :-(

I didn't even bother staying for the meal. The Installation was over just after 5. 00pm, but people were told they wouldn't be seated until 5.45, presumably to start the meal at 6.00pm. When we had a similar gap, I got every body seated and we got the formal toasts and responses out of the way first.

It sounds as if this lodge needs someone ;-) to teach them how to do it!

And it is very cheeky to draft in people without asking them first!

Perhaps there is no one there with good organisation skills?

Vol-au-vents

The secretary is well known for his lack of admin skills yet he still gets appointed. The treasurer went in for the 24th year! Unfortunately, the new DC does not seem very strong, and even he didn't turn up until half-way through the meeting. Not a good omen :-(

Sorry to say it Allan, but it sounds very much like "Jobs for the boys" to me :-|

Of course I know nothing about how these things work.

I was for a very short time in the Ladies branch of the Buffs. That's because my Mother ran the local Buffs Social Club for a while! :-D :-D

Flapjacks

Allan Report 21 Sep 2014 12:24

One hypothesis blown out of the water :-(

It was regarding a William Mortimer who flitted between Liverpool and New York in the 1890s/1900s. He came back in 1904, but after Clifford was married, so the travelled William did not change his name to Clifford

I now think not, Jem.

But the travel with the Sutton/ Mortimer's has been a fantastic venture even if they turn out not to be my family :-D :-D

I'm off to bed soon. We had roast pork for dinner and I've just grilled the rind for crackling. I will now indulge, and make myself extremely bilious :-D :-D
