The problem is, many local fire-fighters are at the major fire. Apparently there are over 400 personnel attending at that one, most of whom are volunteers.

So do I Tawny but a bushfire warning has now been extended to the area where we live and right now I can hear the water bombers fling over, so probably not connected to the major fire, there may be another one in this locality

I'm trying to get an update, but as there is nothing on the local radio I'm assuming that it may now be contained but given that the perimeter is over 100km it will take days to extinguish it.

Nope, latest report is that it has broken through containment lines. The two major highways between here and Perth remain closed and the last remaining road link to Perth is only being used for essential travel.

A major music concert (Southbound) which was expecting 10,000 people has been cancelled

Tawny, the bushfire really flared up yesterday and even though we are 40 kms from the fires there was a veritable 'snowstorm' of ash and debris here at home :-0

That's my last for the moment. Already had two very short power cuts but more expected for two reasons 1) a very hot day 36c and 2) a major bush fire about 80 kms away is threatening power lines :-(
