I shouldn't be so picky :-0

I either go backwards on the A-Z games, or use too few, or too many letters in the five letter games. :-|

And don't start me on the number of times I get the Quizzes mixed up :-S :-D :-D :-D

Are you sure it wasn't your Grandfather that drew them?

Allan Report 7 Jul 2014 23:50

I don't know, Jem :-(

If the possible contender for Clifford turns out to be correct, then he subtracted 11 years from his age ie he would have been about 55 when he married my Gran not 44 :-S

He certainly couldn't have drawn the Canadian sketches as they are too early

A lot of that went on in those days, as they didn't have to prove age etc. Mistakes are often made on Census though. On Who Do You Think You Are experts said that the Census Age records are notorious. Perhaps that particular Census was wrong.

Also, who gave the information? Someone that was mistaken about the age perhaps. Just like when there is a contradiction of place of birth. A son may sincerely believe his mother was born in Bloomsbury eg (like my 2xGreat Grandmother) But she may have moved there as a small child. Another Census giving Lewisham may be correct.

Time will tell :-D

In the meantime, I have sent off for a marriage certificate for a Joseph Mortimer and Jane Raine (1853), which is an intriguing marriage :-D
