That's one I do know. My dad lived in a Forestry property in the Pine Plantation until he died in 1983 :-(

Was your Father in Australia before you?

Yes, he came out in 1973, after my mother died. He was only coming out for a six month holiday, but decided to stay. At the time OH and I had no children and my brother over here had three.

At least our kids got to see a little bit of him before he died

That was good that they did get to know their Grandfather.

My best friend and her family emigrated to Australia in 1973 too.
We lost touch some time ago, but I have located her and her brothers on my secret Facebook Account! :-D :-D

I am trying to decide whether or not to contact her. I am not a big fan of Facebook, but it is useful sometimes.

Jem, I know that the kids have Facebook and other forms of social media, but I'm not a fan. Too much information out there and too many ways it can be hacked. I'm fine with emails and attaching pics to same

I doubt the children remember him, Jem. We arrived in June 1982 and went to Leonora in September 1982 when our daughter was 2. We caught up with him in October 1983 when I was in Perth for a conference, and he died the following month :-(

That's sad Allan:-(

My father never knew my daughter either. He was killed in 1976 when I was 18.

Jem, these things happen :-(

Our children have never seen any of their grandparents, except for my my father.

Nor did we have the usual family support after the children were born. OH is an only child and my brother was already in OZ. The few Aunts and cousins I had were on the other side of the country.
