Most seem to be connected to adverts or activity tracking. Surely it can't be helping performance?

I´ve never been able to work that out either.
It takes longer to run through all those than it does to read the thread when it finally appears.

I find that because I use the quizzes board a lot,thats where I have most trouble either making a post or opening a thread

IF I see that the bars at the bottom of the page are appearing to be slow, opening my favourites and selecting say the chat board.......it responds quite quickly. and then looking at the thread I posted to.......my reply is there.......


also instead of hitting the back button as GR suggest I goto favourites and hit the appropriate button there, the thread will open

Shame the GR team can't tell all of us that on this thread??

This morning:-

Inbox - took three attempts
Sent Messages - took five attempts
Surname Summary - gave up trying to move to next page
Posting messages getting slower but does get there, just

Overall, a marked deterioration since last week.

Have given up now.
Can access everything except Ancestors pages 1&2. · onwards, no problem.
!&2 are timed out before they download completely, so the page comes up, but with no text on the threads & before the text appears, the whole thing times out.
Been trying for almost an hour now & it´s a regular but intermittent fault. It was working perfectly at 8 am. :-( :-( :-( :-(

I sent a complaint in this morning re slowness of site and error messages etc., and have just received this reply:

Re problem being only able to open one message at a time.

For anyone interested, since this was mentioned a few posts ago, I have conducted a series of tests using two different PC's and operating systems, with the following results.

XP / IE8
XP / Firefox 21
W7 / IE10

appear to function correctly, whilst

W7/ Firefox 21,
and also W7 / earlier versions of FF
remains a problem and only able to open one message at a time.

Support have passed this to the technical team to look at and investigate.

Five times I clicked before the error disappeared. I had a few minutes to spare luckily.

I am getting timed out the same as Sylviaincanada

It's only started again for me in the last few days, say about 10.

With regards to

I have noticed this too and believe it is a fault with the program which does not refresh the page on returning to your Inbox after viewing the first message.

Another workaround is to hit F5 which will refresh the page and re-enable the link to the remaining messages, but the problem simply returns when you go back to view the next one.

I'll do a fault report to GR over the weekend and see what they say.

I get timed out at least 90% of the time when trying to post on a thread

I just click on Back as the Error Message says

Then I click on another page in the thread .................. and usually it then shows the message that the post has been successful.


sometimes I C&P the post's contents before clicking on another page, just in case it has not worked ...... do that if it is a long or convoluted post.

This was a problem months ago ................ bt it was solved, largely I think by Phil's reaction.

But it is now back.

Posting replies or new messages works fine.


Occasionally My Threads will not open ............. about 10-15% of the time at the moment.



IGP ...............as you say, it is very hit or miss for me, except when I am trying to post on threads.

Other activities which have timed out more than once this past week are

Opening Sent Messages Folder

Posting a Message to another member. Message usually sent ok but fails to return correctly. Temptation is to Backpage and send the message again.
