Has no one from the GR Team been working for the last 3 days ?

I thought that reported posts were supposed to be dealt with in 24 hours unless it was reported at the weekend.

Disgraceful service at the moment

ErikaH Report 14 Feb 2014 15:23

..........and the rest, GB.

At least one post RR'd on Feb 11th has not yet been dealt with. Incredibly slack..............

Yet when GR's own post was reported........the response was instantaneous!

Thanks Hannah - no disrespect to you as I know you are actually trying to help, but I think my post of 13/02/2104@11:52am, not only voices my disappointment of this site, but also my views about the way support responds to problems that have been notified to them "repeatedly"

I am in the sunset of my life, I live in hope, that before I pop my clogs, that someone within the DC Thomson/Brightsolid/GR family - will realise what a debacle this site has been over the past 14 months and do something about it, including beefing up what I call customer relations.

Until whatever occurs first, I will just carry on re-entering the missing information on my tree, checking, double checking, and treble checking, that the information entered has been saved, that will be quicker than waiting for any sort of pro-active response from support.

Hello OneFootInTheGrave. I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with the site. Please can I ask you to email our support team at [email protected], who will be able to look into this, with details on the problem with your tree.

Our support team look at all reported threads on a case by case basis. Due to concern from our members the contact details on the Success Story post in question have been removed.

Kind regards

Hannah

Surely the explanation is that Genes considered it was OK for that post to advertise the book. Subsequently there was a strong reaction against it from some valued members so they have modified the post.

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 13 Feb 2014 18:28

The Team have some explaining to do.

How come it was okay for that Success Board story to contain an email addy but that has now been removed.

Why ?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 13 Feb 2014 17:26

The advertising is still included in the thread.................

So, can we take it that it is now OK for any member to advertise his/her own products for sale on the GR message boards?

Hello Everyone

Just a quick message to say that the ‘Featured Story of the Month’ board post no longer contains contact details and does not need to be reported.

OneFootInTheGrave and GlitterBaby I can confirm that I have seen your posts, and that I will be responding within 24 hours.

Speak soon

Many of us know of or are aware of problems with various things on Genes and I would have thought we ALL know what happens when Genes does a 'tweak' so why do some people ask for more and more new things to be done.

Please solve all the outstanding issues before introducing new one!

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 13 Feb 2014 13:22

Looking at Military Chat board there are 3 threads which are duplicates on the first page- errors while posting but only one has been reported.

Will who ever reported one of them come back and report the other two !!

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 13 Feb 2014 13:13

Well Reggie if they can not cope with doing both then they should make up their mind which gets given priority. I know what my answer to that is - this site.

It is about time that the Team design something to show which member has reported a thread, on the thread, so it stops members from reporting duplicates. Some of the duplicates are down to problems on this site.

Too busy preparing for the above to deal with this site

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 13 Feb 2014 12:57

So why are the Team taking so long to deal with threads that have been reported ?

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 13 Feb 2014 11:52

I am extremely disappointed with this site, from mid December 2012 till mid January 2013, we had serious problem with our trees on this site, it was what I can only describe as something similar to the kind of farce they used to put on at the Whitehall theatre.

No sooner was that supposed to be sorted, and that only got sorted after GR ceased blaming members browsers & systems for the problems, another problem occurred and that was the saving of certain details in fields on our tree - especially with the fields for marriage records. I lost count of the time I reported this to Support and in the end gave up as I was fed up with the standard response - we are aware of the problem and are working hard to fix it and eventually it was supposed to be fixed.

Over recent weeks I have seen some posts about people having problems saving details so I decided to check some of the entries on my tree, and would you believe it the marriage details for numerous individuals on several branches of my tree are not there :-(

I have over 1,352 individuals on my tree and going back and checking all of these is a mammoth task and begs the question - when will GR provide a family tree that can be relied on and one which we can be confident will function properly.

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 11 Feb 2014 19:06

Well I am off to write a book and then post all the details on this site including my email addy.

;-)

Hello Everyone

Firstly thank you for your concern, and for your respect for our T&Cs.

I can assure you that the member in question gave their permission for the pseudonym email address published in the ‘Featured Story of the Month’ board post to be shown.

Any family history research breakthrough selected as a ‘Featured Story of the Month’ will be published by the Genes Reunited team in order to highlight the post as such.

We will never ask a member to post their contact details or personal information on the community boards.

Many thanks

Hannah

"We will never ask a member to post their personal information or contact details on the Genes Reunited community boards."

So is it alright for the GR Team to do it then ?

Has that member given permission for her email addy to be show?

There is this in part 8 of the T&Cs
"You shall not publicise, post or advertise your contact details (including your email or postal address, phone number, website address or any other contact details) to any other member of the Genes Reunited Service except by making contact with them through the Genes Reunited Service message centre."
