I would doubt that Emma would have taken in her husband's child by another woman, ..................she may have gone up to Liverpool when he was there on his return from India.

The only William Jones born 1881 in Portsmouth on 1911 census is in the Royal Navy - and married.

William Reece Jones (junior) was born on 5 Jan 1881 and recorded in GRO at 1881 Mar. Portsea Vol 2b. Page 559.
The details of his father's death are correct.
I have found three likely marriages but how do I know which is correct?
1. Spouse name Lilley recorded at 1915 Jun.Basingstoke Vol 2c.page 587
2. " " Tidy " " 1916 Sep Portsmouth " 2b " 1039
3. " " Moore " " 1916 Dec Portsmouth " 2b 979

From the censusus I find that Thonas Jones was born in Liverpool which is strange as his father never lived there but did join the Royal Artillery there before transferring to The Royal Marine Artillery. William Reece Jones Snr returned to Liverpool after serving tn the Madras Artillery during the Indian Mutiny. Was Thomas posssibly illegitimate ?

I am most grateful for any help as searching for particular Jones opens up so many posssibilities

Am trying to find out what happened to the offspring of William Reece Jones b.28 Jan 1839 in Haverfordwest and Emma Bollen b.1837.They had 5 sons and three daughters. Father and three sons served in the Royal Marine Artillery and the family was based in Portsmouth. I am trying to find out what happpened to two of the sons.
William Reece Jones (junior) was born on 5 Jan 1881 and served in the Royal Marine Artillery from 1896 until being invalided out in 1901. At the time of the 1901 census he was living with his brother at 19 Garfield Terrace, Cromwell Rd, Portsmouth. After this I have been unable to find out anything. Did he marry and have children and when did he die?
The other son I know nothing about is Thomas Jones who according to the census was born in Liverpool in 1886
Any help in tracing them would be greatly appreciated
