Awwww luv you too chick, really missed you and being here....

It's horrid, i get home some days and genuinely feel guilty over my lack of presence. I have been ill this last 2 weeks and also busy working.

Life is sailing by me so rapidly right now i hardly know which day it is!

I am here for as long as my eyelids allow me tonight and then i am here for most of tomorrow too.... got to try and catch up!

I would say that you handled the grandkids very well, Cyn

not that I would have expected wnything else

I've always followed the line of answer any questions asked as clearly and honestly as possible, age related of course

Mind you, I was once floored when I was teaching

We had to teach simple facts of life at the beginning of the second term in the school to the "newbies", ie, ca 11/12 years old about to enter puberty

This one little girl came up to me afterwards and said

"Miss, can I ask you something?"

"Of course"

"I was born on a settee. Where were you born?"

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and with that, I will go and do the bank balance and weekly shopping list before going out for coffee

Not a clue Trace....only just come in myself!

However, must thank Sylvia for sticking up for me and, as usual, she got the 'bonny' bit spot on!!

The grandkids were okay. We talked about funerals, burials, cremations and burial of ashes on the way home and the 11 year old said he felt better for talking about those things! They are sad but realise that, at 93 and very poorly, it was good that Grandma didn't suffer any more.

After some spring rolls and barbequed ribs, I took them to their aunt's (and mum's) fashion show which had been pre-arranged for a while. Granddaughter was loving every minute of it and grandson was glad to go home with dad to watch tv!!

Off for a quick relaxing mooch.

FannyByGaslight Report 1 Oct 2010 21:10

Well I aint having any probs with it except me usual Welsh ones.
You put in born Wales and they go everywhere except to Welsh census. But its always been like that to me.

So why bother giving me Davies in Scotland or Ireland or the flaming IOW when I have stated Wales !

Dea

Dea Report 1 Oct 2010 20:58

Ginny - It did that for me and I too was going to change to FMP but it is just your settings.

I changed mine back using the method I outlined to you before.

Tell me what you see and I will tell you what to do.

but it doesn't do that for me!

On my Home Page, I have the Search Form

I have Show Advanced

I have "Match all terms exactly" ticked

scrolling down below the lines wehre you enter information, the re are four boxes under a heading Restrict to:-

Historical Records, Family Trees, Stories & Publications, Photos & Maps

All are ticked

I enter my information .... and the search then gives all the things I've ever had.

No No No.....Ancestry has changed and it is sooo specific in it's searches

Before you could search and all sorts would come up.

Now you enter the details and then you have to click census or whatever and then you have to click which one and then you have to click again to get results which have no details until you open them

Arghhhhhhhh

I may well be moving to FMP

Just popped in for a little while !

Wondered how Cynthia's grandchildren were doing?

We won't see Renes for a while methinks.

Everyone else o.k?

I see Fans and Ginny are squabbling again! - STOP IT you two!

Have you sorted that Ancestry yet Ginny? - There is nothing wrong with it for any of us - It is only being 'nasty' to you!

Hi everyone
xxx

another lovely sunny warm day ...... it's real Indian Summer weather.

It was cool enough at 8 am to need a jacket when I went out to the clinic. By 11 am it was warm enough not to need any kind of jacket or cardie!

Gins / Fans ................ "bonny" in Lancashire was used to mean you're very pretty or beautiful, especially by that age group

My Gran (who would be ca 126) and Mum (ca 106) both would say "what a bonny child", meaning "lovely little kid"!

Dea and Cyn ....... hope you both had an easy time with your grandchildren.

My daughter was about 10 when her grandfather died (the only one she'd known). OH and I made a deliberate decision that she should not go back to the UK with OH for the "call back" and funeral ....... we wanted J to remember him as he was, not as the cancer-ridden skeletal person he had become.

She has since said that she now understands our decision, but that she had been very upset about it for quite a few years ...... she had wanted to see him one last time.

off for a mooch
