I do know a pro who posts here (not in this thread) and I occasionally tout for that person by telling other members who need her specialized expertise I'll give them contact details if they ask me by PM. I know that the person never, ever touts, and never asks for help with anything here, just hangs around to offer help from that expertise.


Jonesey, just a note for now -- my understanding, from being told it here at GR, is that a bigamous marriage remains in the GRO index and thus in the dabases we can search. However, *if* there was a prosecution, it is noted by the GRO and it will not issue a certificate. (Since that would be an attestation to a marriage that never actually happened.) I've wondered whether they would provide the details on the certificate, like fathers' names, without giving the certificate.


For whatever corporation this is that's being formed, I assume, since I am not otherwise mentioned, that the simple title The Boss has been reserved for moi.

Now Jonesey,would you confess on the boards in the glare of the public that was what you did and then never be able to ask for help again?

Back to the John Brace situation.

FBG, "Did he marry?" I never heard of him being married but of course he died before I was born so it is something that I have never thought about so I will have to investigate. As far as I can be I am 100% sure that he was auntie Flo's natural son. I have a 2nd cousin who like me is curious about him and I know that she, like me believes that to be the case. Unfortunately all that generation are dead now and his half sister is also dead so nobody to ask.

My instinct tells me that the bigamist story may well have been invented to cover illegitimacy but that would not explain why he had the surname Brace or why no birth record can be found.

Dea, Auntie Flo was a very nice lady so If the dead do monitor GR I am sure that she will forgive you for casting doubt upon her virtue. I will look further into the marriages that you have indentified.
