I have copied the potato pancake recipes, ta very much, and will offer them up to No.1 once we get some potatoes. No directions as to whether "mealie" (we call them baking) potatoes or otherwise? And I thought you'd all be so precise.

For anything other than fancy baking, your measurements do fine, as long as they're consistent and I remember that your cups are 20% bigger so I either convert to my cups or just up the other ingredients a bit.

btw, I don't eat during the day, not til the lemon chicken at midnight and all, so never worry about holding the buffet for moi. I also detest maple syrup.

Hello all,

Thanks for looking for me Cynths and Irene !! (" Dea for dearest " - I like that, it makes me feel all 'loved').

Been a bit busy with grandchildren, then catching up on sleep as I am not 'on top form' at the moment' BUT - I am here now - till my early bedtime!

I see you are all doing well, if a little starved at breakfast time??

Robert seems to have that all under control now (thank you Robert) - Your
'Ulster Fry' sounds delicious - I will try to get to that in the morning before the others munch it all !!

The difference in weather from Kent to Yorkshire is amazing

But.....I do remember when I lived in Canterbury; I had snow and ice on the INSIDE of my window one year....1986ish

..all the soverners were running around screaming 'Armageddon'

My parents have had one for years and when I lived in sussex there was one in the carpark where I was meant to park my car.
I moved here a year ago and only realised a couple of weeks ago there was one in this garden.
OH is from up north and he had never seen them before, well they are called kentish cob nuts so I expect the northeners don't get them

Bird peanuts would be much cheaper to buy than some from the Health Food shop to try.
Same thing really only packaged to look nicer and dearer...

We eat the bird peanuts,as well as put them out for the birds of course.

Cob nuts are just large hazlenuts arent they...No dont think so...

Emmers is back...~~~~~~~~~

Jax
How lucky to have cob nuts - I bought a pkt of peanuts - in garden shop - they are just natural untreated peanuts - so I suspect if you buy them from a health shop they would be fine
I was looking at a pistachio nut and macadamia tree to plant this Autumn -

Have not seen cob nuts

May be a bit warm here
