I will have the trotters please Renes.
Boiled in salt water and with a slice of bread and butter while still steaming hot.
Or make a Cawl...Welsh soup/stew....with them..yummy.

Love em.

Mother used to save them for me as a child instead of giving them straight to the dog as I was the one who liked them.

Still buy them sometimes now for myself, but HID dont like em....Good,more for me.

This one I found on the web sounds exactly like what Gran used to make (Word of mouth of course she'd been dead 30 years before I was born)

My dad used to make them from time to time when mother would allow him in the kitchen

8 oz/ 250 g/ 1 cup raw potato
8 oz/ 250 g/ 1 cup mashed potato
8 oz/ 250 g/ 2 cups plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
large knob of butter, melted
about 1/4 pt/ 125 ml/ 1/2 cup milk

Grate the raw potatoes into a bowl. Turn out onto a cloth and wring, catching the liquid. This will separate into a clear fluid with starch at the bottom.

Pour off the fluid and scrape out the starch and mix with the grated and mashed potatoes. Sieve the dry ingredients and mix in along with the melted butter.

Add a little milk if necessary to make a pliable dough. Knead lightly on a floured surface.

Divide into four and form large, flat cakes. Mark each into quarters but do not cut right through, and bake on a griddle or in a heavy pan.

I thought the cup measurements might help our JC

Fans Potato cake recipe...

Mashed Tater (Spuds to the Irish and Potato to the Canucks)

Plain white flour to quarter amount of the Tater being used.

Knob of butter

Pinch of salt and pepper.

Mix well and shape into small pancake sizes but not too thin.

And for a twist I like to add chopped (fairly fine) onion sometimes.

Lightly oil frying pan and cook on medium high and turn every so often until golden brown

A work colleague of mine left a few years ago and he was so into Shaun the sheep

I had the job of the leaving gift. So, I bought about 25 Shauns, all in different formats....pencils, toys, rubber, drinking cups and soft toys, mobile phone holder etc...

Everytime he left his desk on his last day another Shaun would appear for his return, ending in the huge Shaun he now sleeps with

We had a fab day and Dave loved it..........

There are hash browns and then there are hash browns!

Just working myself up to mention 'pancakes' to OH, but HBs are going on the shopping list. Thanks for the reminder of that delicacy.........!

Good buy then Fans? Nearly as good as my latest Shaun the Sheep acquisition from the car boot - he is SO wasted on children. My daughter has an eye for that sort of thing and has had some good bargains in charity shops.....I just tend to look for Shaun items or audio books. I'm kicking myself because I saw a Gorgio teddy - one of the collector's items type but I dithered and when I went back it had gorn! I already have two - both were gifts and I just thought I would get this to make a trio. Kick kick kick.

Now, "OH dearest, I've been thinking about pancakes........"
