Hi all

Lost internet connection last night so good job that Robert had agreed to provide breakfast for you all

Now I know why the hospitals here used to have Cream of Wheat on their breakfast menus in the '60s and '70s!

It's like November today .......... about 12C, and pouring with rain

real PNE weather :)))

BUT I have finally made an appointment to get my hair cut .... only about 2 months later than I should have gone.

I have a slight resemblance to the Wild Woman of Borneo!

Wimpy and chips for 5/-, frozen Jubbly's!! Your age is showing Jax (lol).

So is mine. I used to love Wimpy burgers with their fresh chopped onions on and their toasted buns. Best ever but not the same today.

The only fast food burgers that got close were Wendy's in the US in the 1980's. Fresh cooked with fresh salad and catsup.

Both now rubbish thanks to competition from that blasted Ronald clown.

I did read that wimpy do offer a quorn burger so you could go.

They do seem very expensive though compared to what I remember from my childhood e.g wimpy and chips and knickerbocker glory was 5s. I will have to do a comparison on that to todays money lol

Jubbleys Trace could be frozen too

ooooh Ginny won't do Wimpy, most of it has faces :( and the rest is fairly inedible.

I remember Wimpy :) I used to go to Wimpy on a Sunday after we went swimming, then we'd pop to the shop on the way back from the bus stop and get a from calipso drink (triangular shaped) and suck it all the way home (and then get an orange tongue)

Now then how do i get my halo off my neck? It slipped many a moon ago and i've kinda got used to it there....

I do hope you have bought yourself a plot in the local churchyard Cyn...You may need it sooner than you thought when I come through Wigan .....

Mere childs play Gins, mere childs play.
Now for a real grown up search and find you need to check some of my replies to people...
Like the one of finding the birth reg of someone under an unknown Surname 30 yrs after it was originally being sought after by the poster??Found in 30 mins...!

But good work all the same ladies.

Cyn does the best job of polishing Halos I reckon as she seems to be forever cleaning something.
Hand her yours and the other 2s and they should come back all shiny and new looking..

Well done girls

Just been on a trip down memory lane, when we did'nt have so many fast food resuarants.

Pizzaland was mentioned in a post and reminded me of scooting on the tube to the west end in my lunch hour (must have been extended) and having a couple of slices with a jacket pot and coleslaw.

That then took me onto Wimpy Bars, what a treat wimpy and chips, whipsy and knickerbocker glory on a plate and real glass sundae dishes.

I know Wimpy is still going and most of them seem to be in my area, but not the same as the old days

Cynthia the huntress has a nice ring to it don't you think

And in answer to a couple of questions above

Cream of Wheat consists of farina, or meal made from wheat. Originally described as made from the first roll, or best cut of wheat, it became very popular as a healthy, hot and wholesome grain food based in part on its white color. Throughout most of the 1800s, white bread had been expensive and only for the wealthy. Grain manufacturing advances had recently made white bread less expensive and people were buying it as a middle-class status symbol as much as for its soft, doughy texture. Cereals at the time were made from whole grain porridge. They were cooked all night and were light brown in color. Cream of Wheat's white color fed into the public's image of white grain foods as a status symbol of comfort, plenty and middle class. It was not until later in the 1900s, after Americans had consumed years of white-flour foods instead of whole-grain foods, that health professionals began to link the loss of whole grain in the diet caused by over consumption of white-flour products to a host of health issues such as obesity and heart disease.

At work today.

If anyone noticed the a forlorn woman in the middle of the sun in the sands roundabout this morning it was me. OH ran out of petrol on a busy roundabout as we came off the A2. I was worried I was going to get flattened. How embarrassing.
