I think the trick with the 'school' pie Ginns is that you have to make it and then, instead of serving it fresh and crisp, you have to keep it sitting there on the warmer for hours which makes all the liquid from the cheese 'sog' into the pastry ;-)

gins

honestly ................. £6 ??????

wow!

We first had Kiwi jam in those little containers when staying in a hotel in Berlin in 1985 or 86, and loved it.

We then continued the trip in Scotland ............... and the local paper in either Edinburgh or Glasgow had a recipe for making it .................. and that is what we've used ever since.

We used to buy the fruit when it was cheap, but then OH was given the female vine as a birthday present, and about 4 or 5 years later he was given the male vine.

They do have to be about 7 years old when they start bearing fruit.

Helllloooooo !!! :-D

I'm spending much of my computer time looking at WW1 and keeping getting delayed in coming back here.

I've also finished (I think) my Christmas letter........next, it's the cards. :-(

I suppose I could take them with me to the hairdressers tomorrow..... :-D

Just watching a programme about a reporter who is going to help unblock Mexico city's sewers......by hand..........and it's some of the most toxic sewage in the whole world :-( Crackers........and dis-re-gusting. Am now squinting in horror......eeewwwwww

Gee

Gee Report 21 Nov 2012 16:38

Easy to make maybe, but I finks we would have trouble growin em ;-)

.............and if we had to buy the fruit, a jar of jam would cost about £6!!!!

SylviaInCanada Report 21 Nov 2012 16:23

The kiwi vine seems to be OK .................

......... but OH did collect 2 shopping bags of fruit off it yesterday afternoon, and cut it back quite a lot.

Plus, I think the wind was not coming directly from the south.

Hope you liked the kiwifruit jam

it's soooooooooooooooooo easy to make!
