Congratulations Linda.

Nice to see that they still weigh babies using good old Christian units. :-D

When my daughter was born we did not have any scales at home so we improvised using the balance principle. She weighed 3 bags of sugar and a packet of tea, roughly 6lb 4oz.

Hi Jonesy

so pleased to hear that your daughter has been allowed home.

Now all she has to do is to NOT be tempted to try to do too much.

Like you, we were very pleased at how fast our medical system swung into action with my sis-i-l after she found the mass and went to see her doctor.

People are continually complaining about wait lists, etc .................. but she was having tests by the next day, and was in surgery just one week later.

Good luck to your daughter xxx

I was knocked down by a cyclist who ran into the back of me :-D

I had just got off the bus at the university terminus, and was walking across the pedestrian plaza on my way to work.

I admit that I did stop suddenly when I saw something on the ground ................ but the next I knew was that I was flat on my back, staring up at the sky, and facing the opposite direction to that in which I had been walking.

I must have spun round before falling .................. but have no memory of it.

The cyclist, a young woman, was very upset ............... her explanation was that she had not expected me to stop.

OH's office was very close to where it happened, and she insisted on taking me there.

I think I "rang my bell", as they say over here, ever so slightly.

............... but the headache soon went :-D

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 14 Nov 2012 14:37

For those who have been following the story:

Some good news. The hospital have allowed my daughter home to complete her recovery. They arranged for social services to visit her home first to ensure that everything was in place to enable her to reside there safely and comfortably. Social Services have provided some bits of kit such as a grab handle by her bed to make getting into and out of bed easier, a bath seat and a sort of stool come bum rest in her kitchen so that she can rest whilst preparing her food.

She still has to wear the neck brace at all times and she still has quite a lot of pain in her neck and back but she is very happy to be back in her own home rather than in hospital. Her local hospital will monitor her progress and will organise any additional treatment she requires.

A lot of people are critical of the NHS and it certainly isn't perfect but if truth be told if you have a genuine urgent medical condition then the NHS usually provides the best service and treatment available.

Once again thank you to everyone who has enquired about her condition and sent her their best wishes. <3

I noticed that too Jonesey - about the 'Quality' of the fireworks last night !

There were some really beautiful ones giving off stars and triangles of bright coloured light ! - Far superior to the 'normal' ones I saw on bonfire night.
