OH phoned the hospital a little while ago ............ his sister was in ICU, still very groggy, but they let him speak to her.

It is 90% certain that there is some cancer there.
:-( :-( :-(

The question is, how much and has it spread?

They will determine that, then decide on the treatment.

he still has to go to China ......... so I'll be the link between him and his sister (and her daughter who is the official NOK)

4 year old grandson said to me on the way home tonight - "Grannie - why are they called fire 'works' ???

They could be fire rockets or fire crackles or fire sparkles but fire 'works' isn't right ??

Astute, or what - I had to agree with him !

Does anyone have the answer?

The Usherette? Those were the days. How we looked forward to the interval.

I remember an item from the 'News' bit on the Two Ronnies Show once.....something like

"Ada Jones, an usherette at the Brighton Odeon caused chaos today when she sat on her torch and showed herself up". :-D

Hope your M.O.T. goes well Sylvs..... <3

Had our jabs - no probs. Assembled the little treadmill quite easily. It folds up nicely and doesn't take up too much room.

Have been ironing and rooting around in WW1 records. Just come up for a breath of fresh air......

:-D :-D

don't think I've mentioned either of these, at least not recently :-D

OH leaves on Tuesday for 12 days in China ................ he's leading some workshops there for editors of scientific journals.

We heard on Thursday evening that his sister had found a lump in her abdomen. She went to the GP, who went into overdrive, thinking cancer of the colon ............. which is in her family.

OH, his father, and grandmother all had colon cancer, so sis-i-l is on "watch", as are all our children

By Friday, she had had scans, MRI, seen the surgeon, and had a colonoscopy.

Big sigh of relief ............... not cancer but a folding of the small intestine into the large intestine.

So, yesterday (Saturday), she took the train almost 400 km to the nearest town with a surgeon who could the operation. She was to see him early this afternoon (Sunday), and then have an operation on Monday afternoon.

She will be in hospital for 4 or 5 days, then off work for 4 weeks.

It sounds as if they will be removing that part of her intestine ..........................

.................. but it is good to know that they no longer suspect cancer.

keeping our fingers crossed though!

OH is pretty worried ................... I shall be emailing him as I hear from s-i-l

The hospital she is in is over 1400 km away by road ........ but only 57 minutes flying time.

Cheapest flight up there is $635 one way (that's about £350-400, depending on exchange rate)

Glad you are feeling better Dea!

They had to give me the pneumonia vaccine in the same arm as the flu .................. because she had just removed a bit form the other arm for a biopsy!

She did the biopsy, put in a couple of stitches, then said "wait a moment, I'll give you the flu shot then you don't have to come back"

She then returned with a little tray with 2 vials and 2 needles, and said "you haven't had the pneumonia one before have you?"

I didn't know which arm hurt the most!!

at least, you don't have to have the pneumonia again, it's a one-time only.

The biopsy results came back later .................... basal cell carcinoma, but she taken a good margin with it, so no further treatment!

And it is one of "good" ones to get ................ easily treated by removal!
