Thank you Sylvs - just porridge please - I'm still trying to be good :-D

Haven't caught up with the news much just yet but it looks as though some have been killed in the dreadful weather in the States. Hoping all our friends from GR are keeping safe. <3

Taking my desk top 'tower' in for a checkover this morning. It sounds as though it has a permanently rumbling tum!

Back later ~~~

Off to bed myself now......night all......~~~

Dea

Dea Report 29 Oct 2012 21:51

With ALL that you do Cynths, I am not surprised you get a litgtle confused once in a while !! ;-) :-D

Nite nite - see you in the morning at breakfast !!

Silly Cynthia !!! :-D

Never mind, at least you spent a nice day with your ironing and I bet you lost some more lbs with those two walks ;-)

Perhaps the 'sandpaper' is not a widely used thing - it may be that she was just a 'sadistic' nurse, although it may also be that it is something which has been found to work in these circumstances.

After all, if the leads drop off when you start to get hot and sticky midway through the test, you would have to start all over again and, to be homest, I would rather have a few tender red patches for a few days than have to go through that twice !!

OH has had quite a few of those treadmill tests and, although he didn't particularly like them. I think I was more nervous than he was. I can't remember him ever mentioning sandpaper. :-S

The first one he did back in '85, they took him off after 1 min. He had his bypass a few days later :-0

Have been busy Christmas shopping for the last couple of hours.....online of course :-D :-D

I am a numpty. Totally. Admittedly. I was all set up to go and see my Health Trainer and OH reminded me about my appointment card. When I looked at it, the appointment was for 10am not 11.30am. Even worse.....it's for Wednesday, not today!!!!! :-S :-S :-S

Never mind, got a whole lot of ironing done and OH went out for TWO walks!!! :-D

I'm also wondering whether JC might get some of the effect from Sandy ..........

............... large areas of Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes are also under watch and warnings.

Sandpaper!

Dea

Dea Report 29 Oct 2012 09:01

It was NOT nice Ginns......... AND, when they stuck all those ECG leads all over me, the nurse first scatched my skin off with sandpaper 'so they would stick better' and not fall off during the test ! ;-)

I had sore red patches all over me for days :-0

I'm not going back there again (I hope! :-D !

Gee

Gee Report 29 Oct 2012 08:54

I can just imagine you Dea, on the treadmill :-0

Dea

Dea Report 29 Oct 2012 08:44

I was thinking of 'our Mo' only the other day Ginns, and several other people who are no longer on the site! - I do miss them all :-(

Cynthia - that treadmill may well be a good idea for you both !

I don't like them myself - I was only on one once when I was just out of hospital a few years ago.

They made me do what they called an 'exercise tollerance test' - I was linked up to the ECG machine and BP monitors and they made the thing go faster and faster and more and more uphill until my BP 'hit the ceiling' and then they measured how long it took me to get back to normal etc.

I DID NOT like it !! - All I remember is muttering 'I want to get off - Let me get off' through gritted teeth and thinking that I was about to explode! :-0 :-(

I will stick to my 'gentle exercise' regime of 'sitting down at my computer and tapping my fingers on the keyboard !' ;-) :-D

Thanks for breakfast Sylv :-D

I hope Mo is OK in NY, hurricane Sandy is on its way there :-0

Cynthia Report 29 Oct 2012 08:02

Good morning.

Gins - enjoy your break. I would love to go up that way - in fact - I would love to explore Northumbria and downwards :-D

Thank you for breakfast Sylvs. I heard about that earthquake and, of course, whenever Canada is mentioned, you immediately spring to mind. Well, you and JC to be honest. Hope things settle soon.

Off to see my Health Trainer this morning and really hope that at least another couple of 1bs has dropped off!! We both agree that it isn't my diet that's at fault - it's the lack of exercise. I've been trying really hard in that direction. I may be able to hula hoop soon! :-D

We are seriously considering buying a small foldaway treadmill to use during the winter. OH can't go out when it is below freezing because of his heart probs BUT he needs to keep his muscles going because of the Parkinson's. A rock and a hard place spring to mind here!! We just thought it would be ideal for both of us.

See you later~~~~

Dea

Dea Report 29 Oct 2012 07:39

Glat to see that no-one was hurt in that earthquake Sylvia - thanks for cooking breakfast <3

Hope you enjoyed your evening out..........

cheese and onion tarts for me today please with some of those lovely garlicky potatoes and a few slices of bacon <3

See you all later,

anyone hear ............

there was a 7.7 earthquake off Haida Gwaii (used to be known as the Queen Charlotte Islands) off the northern coast of British Columbia, about 8 pm Saturday night

about 700 km north of Vancouver.

Some people living in high rises in Vancouver felt the swaying.

Tsunami warnings for the entire coast from Alaska south to California, and over to Hawaii.

Hawaii was still on a tsunami advisory today.

No major damage, no-one hurt or killed

There were several aftershocks on Sunday, including a 6.3

7.7 is a stronger quake than the one in Haiti (that was a 7.0), or the 2 in Christchurch, BUT it was a different type of 'quake ............ this one was a slip-and-slide not an up-and-under.

We were in a theatre with hundreds of others enjoying a performance of La Boheme ............. didn't feel a thing, and knw nothing about until I heard the 9 am radio news Sunday morning!
