Also had a day of it Gins.

Got a phone call from sons partner to say her Mum (who is having chemo) had phoned her (she was at college) to say her temp had spiked to 39o she had phoned her doc and been given an appt for 4.30pm. unbelievable she phoned the hospital and was told to go in and take a case with her.

So OH and I picked her up and took her to hosp where sons partner was waiting we left when my son arrived.

She had to wait for a bed but has been admitted and will probably be in for a few days.

We eventually got the food shop done and I am going to look for a holiday on the internet :-)

Oh boy....what a day

Interviewed eight candidates.....two were outstanding, an Irish girl and a Finnish girl

Touch and go with the third, but managed to windle it down, due to a good marking system

JB phoned all the three (Three posts on offer) and they shouted/squeeled with delight!

Aww........I felt so happy for them :-D

Just back from hairdresser and went to post on here. Got a message to say I had to join to post. Ooops I had forgotten to renew last night so just rejoined as a standard member instead of Gold and paid less for a year than I had been paying for 6 months as a Gold member :-D

Off to price a holiday and do food shop :-D :-(

Just checking in before going to bed

When my sister bought her house she got the choice to pay her mortgage weekly or monthly.

Chose weekly and saved about 8 years its to do with the way they work out the interest

night night :-)

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 5 Sep 2012 23:10

We had a 25 year mortgage on our house, starting in 1972

We then almost doubled it in 1977 so we could do an extension .............. the assessor at that point said "Are you sure you know what you are doing?? Your house is going to be worth much more than others in the neighbourhood. It will be hard to sell your house."

We said we weren't interested in selling ........ we intended to live in it.

............ so he approved the increase.

We always paid more every month than was required, except for one year when OH was on 75% pay because he was on sabbatical leave.

We paid it off about 8 years early

................. and our house is now worth over 1700% of that 1977 mortgage

yes, I DID say 1700%!!!!!

or over 3,000% of what we paid in 1972 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0

Some of our neighbours are now living in houses they also bought in the 1960s or early '70s, and those houses are valued at over $1 million ........

................ they are on larger lots than ours (40' wide versus the 33' wide of ours), and that is where the value is. The lots are all the same depth ...... around 120-130'

it's called cash poor, property rich!!!

Went to the Cardiology Clinic, technician started prepping me for a 24 hr Holten Monitor, as stated on the requisition ............. asking questions all the time.

Finally she asked what I was being tested for

High blood pressure

oooooooooops ........ Holten monitor doesn't measure that, it's for heart function.

She then phoned my doctor's office, another doctor on duty today (but also one I know) ..................... she thought it was wrong, so over-rode the order on the requisition, and told the tech to do a blood pressure monitor.

Off to another examination room

Now have a blood pressure cuff on my right arm, the monitor attached to a belt at my waist, and rubber tubing connecting them

It beeps about every 20 minutes as it takes the bp ............. it'll change to once every hour from 10 pm to 6 am.

she said "you might be able to get some sleep" :-(

I think OH will be back in the basement tonight!!!!!! :-D :-D
