Gins,
At least its not snowing (yet)

our heating broke down during the winter when we were snowed in and was off for 5 days :-(
we had to go out and buy heaters and only heated the sitting room and put them in the bedrooms for a while before we went to bed.

It was so cold you could see your breath in the air :-(

hope you get it fixed ok tomorrow :-)

Gee

Gee Report 30 Aug 2012 22:28

Linda Report 30 Aug 2012 22:24

I too have put the heating on its buddy cold :-(

Have been looking through all my "stuff" and found a PM from rootgatherer who explained what system they use to file all paperwork. Its really good and I wish I had thought to check my old messages before I wasted time yesterday.

Basically uses a card index system (one card for each person) then file everything using the cert ref no and on each persons card record every relevant cert and x ref spouses.

so everything is filed numerically.

Dea will send you a PM

I'm okay but OH is feeling the cold.........August.....would you believe it??? :-(

Haven't sorted out the door number yet but did buy a nice pot for outside the front door. :-D

I have a separate file for each surname in my family history. I can add or improve as I go along. I would really like to make flesh them out more and make them into more interesting reading if you know what I mean.

See you tomorrow.......~~~~~~~~

Thank you Jonesey!

It was not really important but I was doing a look up today for a divorce and went to google - It gave me divorce records on Ancestry.co.uk available up to about 2005 ??

I couldn't find them though !! ;-)

Dea,

I know that there are some American divorce records on Ancestry but I do not think there are any relating to divorces in the UK.

I find the simplest way to find obscure records on Ancestry is simple to go to the "Caed Catalogue" on the home page and enter the key word E.G. Divorce.

Dea

Dea Report 30 Aug 2012 20:44

Can anyone tell me please?

Google says that divorce records are on Ancestry .co.uk but I can't see them anywhere ?????

Any help please?

Dea
That won't work for me :-(
I was so interested in finding the next rellie that I just kept going and didnt even do a "pen and paper" chart to record where they all fitted :-(

Then when OH was ill everything just got "lumped" together and now it is all mixed up :-(

The only good thing is that it all relates to one Grandfather's line
:-)

Dea

Dea Report 30 Aug 2012 19:24

I think I have just arrived at the solution Linds!

I have thousands of printed out pages and many many notebooks of notes - I have decided to shred the lot !!

My skills and the resources available nowadays are far better so I reckon it would take me weeks and weeks and MONTHS and YEARS to go through all those and find anything useful so I am far better starting again !!!

I know it is the right thing to do but I just need to bring myself to actually do it !!!
