I think I will reserve it and pop in tomorrow as I have just about finished at work for Christmas

He is very very lucky Det, I wouldnt normally spend that much but there is begger all else to buy that he needs or wants and it will be a fab suprise for him as he has already been told there is no way he is getting one....and he never expected one either..........says he'll save up and buy one in the summer

I cant wait to see his face on Christmas morning!

Dea Report 18 Dec 2011 18:26

Ginns - If Argos have it in stock, you can usually 'reserve' it on line to be kept at your local branch and then collect it the following day - that way you know that they will not have sold it before you get there!

I always do that nowadays!

Gins - you may be able to reserve in store if you are planning to go there within a day or two. There is nothing worse than turning up thinking an item is in stock, only to find they are sold out :-(

Luck recipient - your *are* generous!

Christmas tree has been up since wednesday, 7 cards on the mantle piece, 5 are for HID 2 for me :-( May get a card from a daughter she did ask for my address yet again.

Sorry to hear about your daughter Persie, I hated those attacks, with me it had been going on for 10 months before they diagnosed it, then I spent two lots of five days in hospital on a drip ect, within a couple of weeks of each other.

Low fat diet :-( No alcohol :-( ( I did cheat a bit as I had a 40th birthday to celebrate) removed Gall bladder and not had a problem with sausages since

Oooh....excellent Det, thank you very much. I just checked availability and they have a couple in stock :-D

Gins - you can use Nectar points at Argos, according to this link.

http://www.nectar.com/spend.points

They do feature iPad2 on their on line catalogue, but you'd probably want to check availability rather than going on the off-chance.

Gee Report 18 Dec 2011 17:18

Im back and have done it all except JBs.........

I must admit I couldn't leave everything to the last minute. I like to get cards and presents sorted at least 10 days beforehand. Then, if I could skip straight to 6th January, I would be happy. :-D

Our fibre optic tree is still in its box leaning drunkenly against the dining room wall.........we have lost the picture hooks we use to hang the card thingies up and the nativity scene has yet to be unpacked. Maybe tomorrow................................... :-)

Very busy morning. Stood for hours because it was standing room only - cooked lunch and then carol service tonight................ :-S Making the most of this afternoon's sitdown :-D

Jonesey Report 18 Dec 2011 09:39

Like a lot of males I used to do most of my Christmas present shopping on Christmas eve although I never actually resorted to having to buy last minute presents from a filling station. Bags of BBQ charcoal, half dead plants, £2.99 wooly hat and glove set, you know the kind of thing.

Nowadays probably because they don't trust me to make sensible or appropriate choices my nearest and dearest tend to tell me exactly what they want and I say OK, you sort it out and I'll give you the money. Much easier and far less stressful for me and whilst lacking in the sense of surprise for them, they get exactly what they want instead of a load of stuff they don't.

This year they are getting:

Mrs J: Heated buffet contraption (A sort of Bain Marie), purchased a fortnight ago.

Daughter: A new bed, purchased at the end of November.

No 2 Son: The latest xbox, bought online yesterday.

No 1 son: Nothing as I have not heard from him since Spring and I haven't a clue where he is now living.

And that's it. She who must be obeyed (Bless her) deals with all the other family members presents, food and social activities ect.

Christmas need not be a stressful time. :-)

I am off to bed now... enjoy your day Gins...

Might go and do my water aerobics in the morning.

Persephone Report 18 Dec 2011 09:33

Gosh you don't get long do you... we have malls open till midnight in some places...

Then they have the Boxing day sales afterwards when a lot of people do their actual Christmas shopping as loads are that much cheaper...

Gee

Gee Report 18 Dec 2011 09:18

The shops close between 4pm - 5pm depending what time they opened in the morning, hours are restricted for larger shops on Sundays, only allowed to open 6 hours

Must also buy some cards and post them!

Persephone

Persephone Report 18 Dec 2011 08:51

Well it is good that you know their names Gins...
:-( :-(

What time do the shops shut?

Gee

Gee Report 18 Dec 2011 08:48

Im here...............and still coughing

Pers, hope your daughter starts to feel better soon, it could be an infection and if it is the drugs should kick in and she'll be feeling much better in a couple of days <3

I cant go shopping today until 10.30am as thats when the shops open.....looks like JB will be getting his IPad 2 as I cant think of anything else to get him and I thinks its daft buying a load of stuff that he doesnt want or need

We made a list last night and got as far as the names of people we are buying for!

Loved your blonde joke Cyns... have e-mailed it all over the place... my Church Steward cousin will love it... She likes it when I send ones she can take to church...

I have to admit Rash is a silly name for a water sports top,,, ;-)

Do they have shops in Sheffield by any chance?

That's a point Jonesey. Gins DID say she was going somewhere today. Now, wherever was it ? :-S :-)

Wow Syls, you've really gone overboard today.....thank you very much - it will take ages to choose. Don't worry about Dea.....as the local saying round here goes "she could eat a scabby horse!" She won't starve - never fear. ;-)

Sounds as though the late choir practice worked well for your shopping trip! I hate taking things back. Enjoy your break.

Persie! Your poor daughter :-( That was a heck of a lot of stones to find though, they could have just missed the odd one. Do hope she recovers very soon.

Must ask you though.......was that 'rash top' you bought very spotty??? :-D

Must go.....'tis Sunday and some of us go places.....but I ain't wherever Gins is... :-D :-) :-D

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 18 Dec 2011 08:18

No sign of Gins yet this morning mind you I think that she mentioned that she had something to do today but I can't recall what she said it was.

Woke up this morning to a light dusting of snow, the first of the winter.

Dea

Dea Report 18 Dec 2011 08:00

Don't worry about me Sylvia - Persie won't let me starve! :-D

It's so lovely that you always think about me when you are going away - Most people arrange for someone to feed their dog or cat, or hamster while they are away but you always arrange for someone to feed 'me' !!!

Thank you............ <3 <3 <3

Persie - I hope all goes well with your daughter - SO awful for her! :-(

I'm just going to get some of that lovely breakfast now - see you all later.

Dea Xxx

P.S. - That Xmas lunch also looks delicious so I will have to save some room.
