Good morning Sylvia......looks like I am first down this morning :-D

I see you had a lonely night but at least you were busy with your printing. My daughter once showed me how to wrap around - at least I think that's what it was called. I can move pictures around in text no bother now. However, I have no idea of what the images that I click on are really called..... I know them as 'the dog'........and 'the gate' because that's what they look like to me :-D :-D :-D

Thank you for breakfast but I can wait for brunch........I've spotted the creme brulee you see :-D

Naughty Jonesey........mind you, you-know-who is so busy child minding that she may not notice. I think she has found that there is more than one 5 o'clock in a day.... ;-)

Fairly busy day today so back later ~~~~~~~~~~

I'm very late on

...... I went downtown to get one item,

got that,

then found 2 shirts for OH

and a pair of trousers and a top for me ..... both half-price :-D

came home

............ and had to start on finishing the Christmas letter, which took me all evening as I was trying to fit photos into the text.

Every year, I do the same. I leave it to the last minute, then have problems with the combining ............... and give up because it just won't work.

Then I have to print one page in black ink, and put it back through to have the colour photo(s) printed.

memo to self ............ must start earlier, and work out how to wrap text around photo!

That's so sad for both of your colleages LK but I am sure you will be a good support to them when necessary.

Spent most of the afternoon in my DIL's boutique watching my daughter and a young girl try some lovely clothes on. I thought, wistfully, that I had been slim once.......... :-(

I am on lunch right now. I am working an extra day to cover for a colleague as her father is seriously ill and expected to go today. His body functions have shut down.
Halfway through the morning my other colleague broke down in floods of tears. Her grandmother passed away last night so have sent her home.
:-( :-(

Yes Jonesey,

We always used to be 'loyal' but over recent years it has become obvious that you need to check the markets and make the change.

However, this saving was not done by changing Company or anything else - simply by changing it from my policy to his, then back again to me.

It makes no sense at all but if we can save £140 on the renewal price each year and not have to change, then it is worthwhile as it IS the best policy I can find.

Car Insurance has always been different as they class the 'risk' as being different when you change the main driver, but with 'Household contents and buildings Insurance' the risk is the same as we are both named as living there but either my name goes down first, or his !!! :-S

Jonesey Report 10 Dec 2011 11:11

Dea,

Irrespective of any name change it has become sound policy to use web comparison sites every time an insurance (Car/Home/personal) comes up for renewal.

My home buildings/contents insurance was due to expire on 7th of December. My current company who I only started to use last year sent me a renewal quote of £228. "No need for any action we will simply take the premium due from your bank" they said. I checked the market using the exact details of cover and received quotes ranging from £181 to over £400. I went back to my current insurer to tell them that I would not be renewing with them. On the phone they immediately offered me a "Loyalty" discount which would mean a renewal cost of £195 (Saving £33) and I was tempted to accept to avoid disruption but I decided to mull things over.

On Tuesday I was contacted by Saga with whom I currently insure our cars. They asked if they could quote for my home insurance so I agreed and gave them all the details. Their quote was £177 and their policy has lower excess levels than my existing insurance company were quoting. Saga got my business.

Regarding car insurance. Some years ago I had 2 cars and 2 vans all insured in my name (All with full no claims benefit.) with Mrs J as a named driver. I suggested that the insurance on one of the cars be transferred into Mrs J's name with me as a named driver so that Mr's J could begin to accumulate NCD in her own name. When renewal time arrived we asked the insurer to quote on that basis and whilst we expected an increase in the premium because of Mrs J's lack of NCB we did not expect the premium increase of over 100% that they asked for.

Same car, Same cover, Same drivers but costing over twice as much if the order of drivers was reversed.

Needless to say we quickly reverted to how things had been.

Gee

Gee Report 10 Dec 2011 10:33

That doesnt make any sense at all Dea but its worth remembering when renewal comes around
