I am looking for the birth, in Scotland, of Janet Love McVitie. I do know that she married a William Harrison on the 16th of July 1916 in Blythwood, Glasgow with her fist child - John McVitie Harrison- born on the 4th of July 1920 in the parish of Dalziel.

Any help would be appreciaated,

How old was she when she married?

Was McVit(t)ie her maiden name?

I don't know how old she was as I only have her son's birth extract. As he was born in 1920 and she was married in 1916 she could have probably been born between 1898 -1900.

Do you think she was as young as that when she married?

Found a death for Janet McVittie / Harrison (cross-ref names) no middle name
Died in 1926 and approx age at the time was 28yrs old. Born c.1898

Have checked the birth index for Janet McVittie / McVitie between 1894 and 1904 and there is no sign of the birth.

I don't have access to the census but someone may be able to look up a match for the above person in 1901 and try to narrow her down to a location etc.

It would seem that the Rebecca Robertson marriage is wrong because the groom is a James Beattie and not McVittie!! Clearly it is the same registration just a different spelling of the surname.

The marriage info is from the birth cert of William .I didn't look for an actual marriage as it costs to look at the info

I have just had a closer look at the marriage certificate, which | friend sent to me, and noticed that Rebecca’s mother’s name was Janet Robertson formerly Love. Moving forward a generation, Robert Harrison's father’s name was John McVittie Harrison and that on his birth certificate it states that his mother’s name was Janet Love Harrison formerly McVittie. Janet is the child of James and Rebecca. I wonder if the marriage registration was mistranscribed or James, for whatever reason, lied about his surname??
