Hello Jacqueline,
I wonder if you could help me with a problem that I have with Elizabeth Smith./ Moore (nee Hockey)
In her father,s will dated 1830 he states that I give William Symons my son-In-Law one pound as a token of my regard and I give unto my daughter Elizabeth otherwise Betsy the wife of Thomas Smith the sum of Fifty Pounds.
In the 1841 census for Stockland there is William Symons aged 40 a farmer and his wife is Elizabeth aged 35 (Elizabeth Hockey was born about1806)there is also 7 children. my problem is you have found in the 1841 census William Moore and wife Elizabeth (born 1805) both Elizabeth,s fit the birth date of 1805, but clearly there cannot be two entries for the same person, have you any idea where I can go from here.
Thank you for any help or pointers.
Best wishes,
Judy

Hi Jacqueline,
Thank you very much for the Smith/Moore information that you have found, I did not know that Elizabeth remarried so that was the reason I could not find the family on the census records and thanks to you I can now update my tree, I wonder what happened to her son Henry, he is not mentioned on the 1841 census !
Thanks once again,
Best wishes,
Judy

I am looking for any information about Thomas Smith, all I know at the moment is he married Elizabeth (Betsy) Hockey at Membury Devon in 1823, they had a son Henry born at Stockland Devon also in 1823. Stockland is very close to Membury. I have searched the 1841 census without luck. I do realise that the name Smith is a difficult name to research but any help would be most welcomed, thank you.
Regards,
Judy
