Find Ancestors

Hello

I am currently having some immense difficulty with locating a marriage of an ancestor.

Thomas Shepherd was born, according to the 1851 and 1861 census in Brailes Warwickshire in 1790. He died in 1861 in Shipston on Stour, Gloucestershire.

He was a wheelwright and had a wife named Ann.

She was born, according to her death record in 1786 and died in Moreton in Marsh in 1841.

They had several children in Bourton on the Hill, Gloucestershire, including

Edward, born 1830
Sarah, born 1816
Mary, born 1818
Jane, born 1821

I cannot find a marriage for them, I hope to find the maiden name of his wife. If she had lived for a few more months, she would have been on the census, but she died in January.

Any help in finding the marriage would be appreciated, also take note that Shepherd was sometimes written as Sheppard and Shephard, as is the case with the spelling on their death records

With children born in 1816, 1818 and 1821 I think you may be looking for a marriage earlier than those two.
In fact if Ann was born in 1786 I wonder if you have the right children, or if there were a lot more before 1816.
Do you have Thomas's parents' names? May provide a clue.

Most of this information is concerning the right family.

The marriage to Ann Taylor looks promising, however it doesn't link with the information we already have.

It is possible that Ann had children before 1816, but we would need the marriage to Thomas to see if she was a widow before the marriage.

Would getting her death certificate provide any clues?

I would doubt that the Bristol marriage was relevant

No offence to the person whom found it, but yeah the Bristol marriage is unlikely the right marriage.

The one with Ann Taylor looks the most promising, the mother is named Sarah, their eldest daughter is named Sarah, a connection?

There is a William Shepherd living with his wife Ann in Bourton on the Hill. According to the 1851 census, he was born in 1790 in Brailes Warwickshire, just like Thomas, they could likely be brothers
