This is a long shot (not my Ancestor)

I hope this type of request is allowed

I bought a tankard that has a inscription on it

"100 yards flat race won by W J Powell 25th August 1868"

I have found him on British newspapers online, he seemed to win / enter a few running races and played Cricket

one of the articles in the Newpaper was for Abingdon cricket team and one of the running articles was for Bicester / Abingdon

He won the above race in 1868 - if anyone has some time / idea of how to find him on Ancestry I would be very grateful, I would love to get the tankard back to the family because I assume it would have been someone's Grandfathers. :-)
