Tree not available again today...good job I don't use it on here anymore :-(

I agree with what Scozz had written19 Dec 2012 19:33 only I have been here longer.

GR the New records you go on about are not available to standered members anyway, So how can you charge extra for information that is not available & can not be seen by a standered membership holder?

Changes to the site, None of the members asked for the changes you have made & it's known that a lot of the members don't like the changes made. Due to the changes not many members have been able to use all of the site as the changes have caused MMANY ERRORS & have taken months to sort out & some are still not fixed.

Things that are asked for & have been asked for, for years now are just ignored, like a 24/7 Moderator Team be put on this site to stop some people bullying, thretning, mobbing & slander that goes on, on this site.

Members are never listened too.

Why should we pay more when other sites give more for free?

I will be here for another year but will not be renewing if my subs go up.

Gai Report 31 Dec 2012 06:30

I have just gone through my inbox looking for an email and I have discovered that in October 2010 and October 2011 I was charged $A19.95 for my six month sub but when my sub fell due in the April of those years I paid $A15.96.

Didn't realised that at the time otherwise I would have asked the question why.

MaryMc

MaryMc Report 31 Dec 2012 00:52

Just checked, mine was renewed automaticaly on 1st Dec for 12 months.

$15.96 NZ, which on todays rate is just over 8 quid.

I've turned off the automatic renew, don't want to pay more than about a tenner, I just don't get enough use out of it, so it won't be worth it.

Gai

Gai Report 30 Dec 2012 11:03

I guess we will have to wait and see how much I get charged when my sub
is due for renewal.

Just checked and my sub expires on 4th April 2013.

Kense

Kense Report 30 Dec 2012 10:53

I agree that you ought to be offered to change to a yearly sub.

Kense

Kense Report 30 Dec 2012 10:46

You won't feel ripped off now Gai as everyone is going to pay the same for the same service. You should get a reduction of 20% for perompt renewal.

See Estelle's post on this thread at 20 Dec 2012 16:20.

Gai

Gai Report 30 Dec 2012 10:21

So now I feel ripped off that I pay twice as much to use the site than other members and I bet I'm not the only one who is in this situation.

It wouldn't be so bad if members were given the option for a 12 month sub but this option was never offered.

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 30 Dec 2012 02:24

hmm, now you've got me thinking.

I'm sure I paid for twelve months........... I must check!! I have always renewed for twelve months, not six, so if I have a six month membership I won't be renewing!

I've seen posts here referring to getting emails when subs are due.

I didn't get an email.

I don't have automatic renewal ticked, maybe that's why.

When I last renewed it took a while to find out the cost. I sent an email to GR and asked for the cost, the answers were vague (at best), and they kept giving me the price in British pounds. Frustrating to say the least!

Edit: I checked ~ receipt for 12 months membership

Andysmum Report 29 Dec 2012 12:06

Gai, you joined in 2008, like me and I pay the same (£9.95) for 6 months that some of the earlier members pay for a year. Scozz joined in 2005 and is presumably in the "earlier" group.

Gai

Gai Report 29 Dec 2012 09:58

That's interesting Scozz as I pay $15.96 Australian for a 6 month sub.

LadyScozz Report 29 Dec 2012 06:09

I found my last receipt from GR

Dated 22 August 2012 for $15.96 (Australian), for twelve months subs.

No idea what that is in British pounds

I've been a member since June 2005, a financial member since August 2005.

PriscillaEmilywasMoonbeam Report 28 Dec 2012 22:56

I too would like it to show on "My Account". When I renewed a few months ago I had a heck of a job to get the correct rate. They offered me a discount of I think it was 20% but then they took off the full amount. It took half a dozen e-mails to sort it out. Very frustrating. They ended up giving me a refund and cancelling my subscription before it was sorted and I paid the discounted rate.

Andysmum

Andysmum Report 28 Dec 2012 22:25

I agree. That information, though, is meant for new members, not for us "oldies". What I would like is what rate I am paying/due to pay shown on "My Account".

PriscillaEmilywasMoonbeam

PriscillaEmilywasMoonbeam Report 28 Dec 2012 20:23

The only way I can see to find the current subscription rate is to sign out, go to home page, scroll down to the bottom where it says Subscribe and click on View Options.

12 month plan £1.67 per month* (= to £20.04 for one year)

6 month plan £2.50 per month* (= to £15 for 6 months)

You would think there would be an easier way to find this information.

ElizabethK

ElizabethK Report 28 Dec 2012 17:47

I also looked at the "How much does it cost" section and it lists the types of sub offered but NOT how much each costs

Andysmum

Andysmum Report 28 Dec 2012 16:42

After reading the first few posts on this thread I tried to access my account to see what it said about my sub. rate. After a lot of trouble, including messages to Genes, I finally managed to look at it.

What did it say about my subscription rate? Nothing. Just that I was on Standard and it becomes due on 4/2/2013, which I knew anyway.

If Genes are going to increase my sub I should be told next week (28 days notice)!! I shall wait and see.

On all other sites that I have looked at, somewhere it tells you the various subscription rates and what you get for your money. Why can't Genes do the same?

Kense

Kense Report 28 Dec 2012 09:32

I suspect that those whose subscription expired before a certain date (1 Jan 2013 ?) could renew at the old rate.

Those being told their renewal is at the new rate are hopefully being given 28 days notice of the new rate.

As I posted elsewhere, you may need to tick automatic renewal and to ensure your card details are up to date in order to get the discount.

What I don´t understand is that people are posting on other threads to say that their basic membership has just been renewed for between 7 pounds & 10 pounds.
Are Gene´s going to let us into the secret of what date the new fees are being applied from & why people are paying different amounts?
