TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SEARCHED FOR INFORMATION ON MY GRANDFATHER JOHN WILLIAM BARNETT I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU.

To answer some of your replys - he was 25 years old when he married my grandmother Florence May webb who was 23 years old. Her date of birth is 30th March 1899 as Gins found for me. The Kidderminster info is not my family.

Once again thanks to those who have given me information - will follow them up.

Regards :-) <3 :-)

Start by finding out how old this man was when he married...........buy a copy of his marriage cert

You can't look for a death until you know when he was born

Come back when you have that info..............and don't - please - start any more threads

This is possibly the John william Barnett who married in 1921

Registration district: West Bromwich

If he was last seen before the war he could of just walked out on the family and perhaps changed his identity, or left the country

I wonder if that WW2 casualty was a professional soldier rather than a man who signed up at the start of the war?

Name: John William Barnett

Do you have your grandparents marriage certificate please? That would give John's age and occupation.

rootgatherer

rootgatherer Report 30 Oct 2014 14:54

While the above looks hopeful, the age doesn't quite fit with a man who married in 1921? Of course he may have lied about his age when he enlisted.

Your Uncle's birth reg is in the last quarter of 1928, not that it makes a great deal of difference ;-)

Do you know your grandfather's date of birth? That might help pin down a UK death. If nothing else, his MC would give his declared age at the time of the marriage.

Assuming he did serve in the forces, his records would still be with the MOD and might show his intended address at demob, or the name of a new nok if he and his wife had seperated. You'd probably need his exact dob to have any chance of purchasing them. They cost £30 and you have to wait a number of months

Hi Folks, l need help - for the past 2 years l have been trying to find information on my grandfather a JOHN WILLIAM BARNETT who married a FLORENCE MAY WEBB from Oldbury in the West Midlands. They married last quarter of 1921 - had a daughter in March 1922 and a son in 1929 ? I know my uncle was about 9 years old when he last knew of his father. My Grandmother told me he went to war one day and never came back. Cannot find any soldier regiment or a soldier number that may relate to him.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Regards, :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
