Just found this rather upsetting entry

1881 at 2, Albert St, Dukinfield
Henry Parnell Head Married Male 28 1853 Cotton Lab Stalybridge,
Hannah Parnell Wife Married Female 29 1852 At Home Stalybridge,
Mary Jane Parnell Daughter Single Female 3 1878 - Stalybridge, Cheshire,
Martha Ann Parnell Daughter Single Female 1 1880 Daur DIED YESTERDAY Stalybridge

thats very sad

maybe the actual census day was the previous day so the enumerator filling in the sheet thought the child should be included as was alive at the cut off time.

Still upsetting though :-(

I think Shirley is probably right - but wouldn't the poor childs body still be at home awaiting the burial?

I saw one years ago but unfortunately didn't note the reference.

It said that the man had died on the night of the census and gave a specific time, also where his body lay in the house!

Wonderful detail if it was for your family.
