With 15 month old Catherine. Usually she requested a discharge but this time she had an 'Oakum Ticket.'

Oakum
Loose fibres obtained by unpicking old ropes which were then sold to the navy or other ship-builders - it was mixed with tar and used for caulking (sealing the lining) of wooden ships. Picking oakum was done without tools of any sort and was very hard on the fingers.

Pauline Report 9 Feb 2015 14:00

Hi everyone please could I have some help in tracing this lady. What I have so far is her name on a birth cert.of her son Daniel born 12th Feb 1852.Her husband was Maurice Reardon from Brittania Gardens Marylebone.I managed to find her in the 1851 census .Daniel was not in that census.I found that Honora Nanan married Maurice Sept 1844 in London. I am stuck now,I would like to go back a little further.
I would appreciate any ideas thank you.
