Divorce field

Please help me with the "Divorce" field on a family member's spouse.
In the case of 3 marriages:
No 1 - not divorced at time of marriage
No 2 - divorced at time of marriage
No 3 - divorced at time of marriage
OR does it mean that particular marriage ended in divorce?
Thanks,
Judith

Judith - what programme is this on? I can't see anything on GR to reflect that.

Family Historian, my off-line tree, has

Divorced
Seperated
Never married
Unmarried Couple
Unknown
'Default' if you've no idea what went on.

Unless #1 was a bigamous marriage, I'd assumed that they were an unmarried couple or single (never married before) when they did marry.
No marriage = no divorce. You could put an explanation in the Note field which most programmes have.

It means that the marriage ended in divorce, assuming it's a GR tree you're working on.

At least, that's what I've always thought!
I also add a note to give the date of divorce where known.

You could email [email protected] and ask what they intend it to mean.

I agree with ArgyllGran. There is a separate divorce box alongside each spouse, so, in your example above, marriage no 1 is Yes, marriage no 2 is Yes and marriage no 3 is presumably No.

Like ArgyllGran, I put details of the divorce in the notes box.

Thank you very much everyone. I did put 'yes, yes and no' but as I went back to put in another marriage I began to have doubts as to whether it was at the commencement of the marriage or at the end.
I also was putting all the details in the notes box but thank you for that advice.
