and don't forget FTF ............. FamilyTreeForum

http://www.familytreeforum.com/content.php

much help available on there for free :-)

also the Mormon site ..........familysearch is great as long as you stick with the official records and collections

https://familysearch.org/

and

https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list

The Online Parish Clerks (OPC) are excellent for baptisms, marriages and deaths in several counties (county coverage is spotty)

Google Online Parish Clerk

Lancashire is particularly good ....

FreeReg has changed its url ...........

http://freereg2.freereg.org.uk/

As DET said ...................

we're able to pass on information about sites, post information found on sites, and use the full names of sites and companies (eg ancestry, Tesco) without problem for several years .......as long as we don't slag them, compare GR unfavourably with them, or promote ourselves or our own companies :-)

Attitudes have changed since the old days.

As long as no one makes derogatory comparisons or advertises their own 'for profit' site, Genes isn't too bothered if you mention other sites.

Hope I don't get shouted at for posting this, but two sites that are free (donations welcome) are Curious Fox and Rootschat. I always think its important to keep the smaller ones alive, lots of info on them!!
