Kerri
Until you can resolve the problem from your end if you want to post some details of Who Where and When in Ireland you would be looking for I could see if I can find anything for you.

Kerri Report 9 Jul 2016 08:57

Im trying to confirm if I have found the correct FITZGERALD family, that’s in the 1901 & 1911 Ireland census.

Elizabeth NAYLOR married Charles FITZGERALD in 15 Jan 1877 in St Nicholas,Galway,Co Galway,Ireland. He was a mariner on both their marriage record & on Elizabeth’s death certificate (in Scotland).

I have found in 1901 & 1911 Ireland census ,a possible Elizabeth FITZGERALD (widow) living at Mountjoy,Dublin- near other known family connections.

This Elizabeth had children Mary Ellen,James,William, Elizabeth,Charles,Thomas,John,Cecelia & Francis.
The ages differ a slightly in the census but same family group.

Could you look for the youngest as they maybe easier to locate. Cecelia b c 1894 & Francis b c 1896 –said born Dublin city.

Thanks
Kerri

Elizabeth & Charles married Galway City,St Nicholas, Co Galway so that's not much help.

Im actually following the FELTUS family. Elizabeth's mother was Maria Naylor, nee Feltus.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 9 Jul 2016 11:30

A tree on Ancestry has this family on it.

Maria born 1832, Co Galway.

Maria and Jonathan Naylor married on 23 Sept 1850, in Ettagh, Co Offaly.
He was a land steward.
Her address was Kilcoleman; father's name Francis Feltus.
His address was Dorrha; father's name Andrew Naylor.

Witnesses: Daniel Kinahan and Besy N Fayles.

Francis Feltus born c 1800. Siblings John, James, George, Richard, William, Mary - all born Kilucan, Westmeath, so presumably Francis was born there too.
Francis died 7 May 1877, Nun's Island, Co Galway.

Francis Feltis
in the Ireland, Civil Registration Deaths Index, 1864-1958
Name: Francis Feltis
Estimated birth year: abt 1800
Date of Registration: 1877
Death Age: 77
Registration district: Galway
Volume: 9
Page: 195
FHL Film Number: 101588

Francis's father was James, born c 1776, place unknown. Death unknown.

Tree owner: kjbenson_1 (could that be you, Kerri?)

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 9 Jul 2016 12:40

That tree doesn't give a marriage or children for Elizabeth - just this:

Birth
28 Sep 1862 • Mount Brown,Co Mayo,Ireland (no sousrce given)

1862

(AGE)
Birth of Sister Henrietta Eleanor Naylor(1864–1869)
10 Jun 1864 • Islandeady, Co Mayo, Ireland

1864

1
Birth of Brother Unknown Naylor(1865–)
26 Nov 1865 • Ballinderreen, Galway, Ireland

1865

3
Death of Sister Henrietta Eleanor Naylor(1864–1869)
26 Mar 1869 • of Castle Taylor, County Galway, Ireland

1869

6
Death of Father Jonathan Naylor(1820–1870)
20 March 1870 • of Castle Taylor, County Galway, Ireland

1870

7
Death of Mother Maria Feltus(1832–1903)
11 Jun 1903

1903

40
Death of Brother Robert Henry Naylor(1859–1920)
16 Apr 1920 • Dublin,Ireland

If this is the Elizabeth who married Charles Fitzgerald in 1877, she would only have been 15 at marriage ??
Perhaps the tree owner has the wrong birth details.

ArgyllGran that's not my tree but a cousins. Ive also got my tree on Ancestry as BETTS.

I didn't want to overwhelm everyone by going into lots of detail. Just thought I would check if others in Australia were having the same problems with rootsireland website.

Francis wasn't baptised in Killucan,Co Westmeath. From - Substitute census, Meath Diocese 1802 (Volume 2,page 124) Residents in Killucan,Parish of Killucan,Co Westmead, in 1802. FELTUS,James ,wife Mary, Children Henry, Eliz ,Francis,John. Parish register has been searched. The first FELTUS entry in the register is the baptism of John FELTUS 1801 & the last FELTUS entry is baptism of William in 1815. As the children in census are not listed in alphabetical order,it is my assumption that this is order of birth.

Brothers Francis & James married sisters, Susan & Jane Balfour.
Francis's son & family came to South Australia as did James & Family. Have lots of info in Australia. Too much to enter on here.

Kerri,

Rootsireland changed to a subscription site in the last couple of years making it quite an expensive sub for transcribed records

I take it that you are aware that ALL records purchased on this site are transcriptions and not the original document?

Kerri

Kerri Report 10 Jul 2016 01:31

Yes. I do know its only transcriptions. A few years ago I used credits to see the records & I thought there maybe more entries on the database now.
