Well that would be Devon Archives, see below, or whichever relevant part of Scotland, or any other you need, just use google to find, very useful...

Thank you for the quick reply I have lists of mcdowells/ mcdowalls/ macdowells going from devon/ ireland/ scotland which is getting to confusing now as they are all different

How do I find the two you mention

Can remember helping on quite a few McDowell (and all it's variants!) 'Threads'...(probably best not to rely on others 'Trees')

Local Archives to Counties etc. a better bet!.

(can remember using Records (think had images from Parish Records) Devon, Find My Past, and some early Scotland, from below)

(if you need to look back at past 'Threads', go to left of page here, under 'Tools', then see My threads, should bring them all up, alternatively add name, and joyce genes, should also come up on google search, quite a few!)

I have receaved three different lines of my family tree from members two got there info off ancestry which is different to mine

which I put on in the first place this has put me off doing my tree as I cant afford anymore certificates before 1766 for proof

Any advice welcomed
