Help with death cert please

Hi, I applied for a death cert for my G Grandfather from GRO dated 1915. The certificate received indicates that the deceased person died in a workhouse, was a general labourer and had "no fixed abode". Most of the details seem to fit ie age, occupation and site of the Workhouse (approx 3 miles from the house where he had been living in the 1901 census) but how can I be sure that this is him? Is there a check that I can make for admittance to a workhouse? He was living in a very poor area (North Woolwich, Essex), and he had a large family but by 1915, most of them would have left home. I would appreciate any ideas as I don't want to assume that this is my Grandfather, but this GRO ref is the most accurate that I have found. thank you all for reading this. Kind regards, Denise |
