I am looking to ascertain the mother of Harry Worledge b 1892 Leven, Yorks.
In the 1901 census he is living with his grandparents

Emma Worledge(nee Flatman) b 1844
Robert Worledge b 1835/36

They have Jane b 1879 John b 1881 Martha b 1884 Ellen b 1882 Sarah b 1888
And Harry b 1892.

I have tried to locate them in censuses 1871.1881 but cant locate the family?
The marriage was in Depwade 1868

I'm thinking there were maybe other children born before 1879 and that maybe there is an older daughter who is Harry's mum?

I have tried using alternative spellings but nothing showing up.

Any assistance please.

They all had such large families didnt they? This tree will take me forever!
So my theory was right that Emma & Robert Worledge, Annies parents had earlier children. Annie in 1872. But where are the family in 1871 & 1881?

Given that they married in1868 and Annie came in 1872, they may have been others in-between and also Jane was next in 1879 so a 7 year gap.

I looked for Martha, as I thought it a good choice - so from the Ancestry tree by John Spence ( he has Robert back to the 1841 census and Emma to 1851.

I guess many were unable to spell so they wrote it as they thought it sounded.

So now I have the complete family of...10 children.

If I can't find the parents I often look for the children, sometimes it is easier to spot them.
If you have Ancestry it is worth looking for that John spence tree.

I assume this is the tree that you mentioned on Chit chat.

Kath see on the census you showed the Croforths in 1921, well I have a problem with the last child.
Quindoline Croforth I cannot find in any records, ie no birth or marriage.

I looked on here and free BMD but no trace except when I type in births between Croforth and Worledge, a Sarah G Croforth comes up being born in 1916, the same year as given for Quindoline???

Any thoughts please?
