I am going to the library on Thursday but meanwhile just a question.
I've found the marriage of Ada Ward in 1900 to Joseph Smith.
Julia Ward in 1921 to Albert Sharp and Lena Ward in 1922 to Albert Harrison.
Can I find information regarding any issue ftom these marriages or is that information still withheld because it's too recent.
Thanks.
Karin.

Hi, yes that's a great idea.
I live in York and will be visiting their library soon, they have Ancestry so that's good.
Thanks,
Karin.

Karin, if you are in the UK you may find that your library service has free access to Ancestry. It is worth checking it out then you can follow the information found for you.

Saves a fortune if you can use it. Sometimes it is FMP or both.

The records on this site are limited but I find the help you get on here is fantastic. I don't expect you to do it all for me but with the information I've been given I've managed to put two and two together.

ErikaH Report 11 Sep 2023 16:14

OK, so no paid-for sites, apart from this one............no probs

How much use do you make of the records which are available on here? They are limited, I know, but you may find some help there.....................

Hello,
You're all amazing as always.
I'm on, Genes reunited, familysearch, GRO and freecen etc.
I didn't renew my subscription with Ancestry as it was getting too expensive.
I really appreciate all the information you've given me.
Thank you.

1871 census already posted on page 1.

On Ancestry, an Ancestry user has submitted a correction of the surname spelling.

Hello Karin
The GRO is just an index. One would need the certificate to get the full information.

However
You can use the GRO index information to find a WARD to SMITH marriage and see if they had more children in that area. You might find them in 1911 census or the person you mentioned should be on the 1921 census.

Freebmd is where most of us look for marriage information, but again, that is just an index.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 11 Sep 2023 10:28

Yes, in this instance, that's all you can see without buying the birth cert.

Sometimes images are viewable on Ancestry, FMP, etc - but not often for such a relatively "recent" event, and not in this case.

Sometimes people upload images of certs to their trees on Ancestry or elsewhere, but although Irene is on three trees on Ancestry, nobody has uploaded that cert, unfortunately.

Thank you for all that information.
Just a quick question, I have signed up with GRO and found a registered birth for another person I am researching. I found Irene Ward born 1913 in North Bierley and it gives the MMN as Smith. I can't see the actual document without paying.
I'm doing this research for my neighbour and he won't pay.
Is this normally all the information you can see or am I missing something.
Thanks again for all your help.
