Can anyone advise how I can get a copy of the actual record now that I have found the correct marriage record?

Welcome to the boards David -

Who is the record for and where and when did the marriage take place - there may be online images. If not, hopefully via the relevant records office.

Too vague a question, I’m afraid.

Where have you ‘found’ the record? (Which website)

What are the FULL details?

If you have found the reference for the marriage, such as you would on freebmd, then the way to get a copy of the certificate is through the GRO ( for England & Wales). Prior to late 1837 there is only the Parish Register entry, which also can also be available for some later marriages. Older marriages may only appear as a list on Bishops Transcripts.

For Scotland then there is only Scotlands People as the source for all the above.

England Select is from Family Search who may not have a copy of the Parish Record.

The record is for my 2nd Great Grandparents, Elijah Humphries and Susanna Franks who were married in Dudley, Worcester in 20 Sep 1846. I found the reference via Ancestry. I am hoping the actual record will identify Elijah's parents. I have applied for Elijah's death record through Scotland's People hoping it might contain the information I am looking for.

Marriages Sep 1846 (>99%)

Franks Susannah Dudley 18 319
Humphries Elijah Dudley 18 319

Apply through the GRO site, as advised by Nameslessone.
You have to register with the site, then log in , click "Place an order" and follow wthe instructions.
https://www.gro.gov.uk/

I hope you didn't spend £12 on a copy of Elijah's death cert on SP.
You could have bought credits (£7.50 for 30) then used 6 of them to view and print the image of the original cert.

The death cert won't tell you his parents' names.

Ancestry trees have him born 1821 in Bilston, Staffordshire to James and Mary Humphries but don't take that as gospel !! Info before then is non existent.

In the 1851 census Susannah is said to be 24 and born Oldbury, Elijah in Bilston
By 1861 he was born Oldbury.

Her parents Isaac Franks 1796-1846 and Ann Mees 1795-1865

Apply to the GRO for a copy of the marriage cert. It will cost £11.00 and, if he knew his father, the name and occupation will be on the certificate. His mother will not be named

Thanks everyone. I am not convinced Elijah's father's name in trees is correct as none show sourcing. Unfortunately, I did pay the £12 because I didn't understand how the credits worked. Live and learn.
