It was vera's birth reg I believe not that it really matters as she died 3 years ago... If of course she is the one she is looking for

Didn't see Rebecca's last post.

From the newer thread
'Your friend needs that birth certificate and the adoption files, and the marriage certificate.'

That is the only way forward. The last thing anyone wants is for your friend to declare a totally unrelated woman as her mother and upset Vera's current family.

Why did you start another thread 5 hours after your last post??

use this free site Rebecca - www.familysearch.org

I just put in the name and dates and born in England and those two I sent are what came up

If you do the same and using the possible spouses put the parents names in and the date of marriage plus 20 years you may be able to see if there are any children

If your friend hasn't already, she should apply to see her adoption records. Further information may be on those
Added - Unless Ruth knows differently, her mother may have been sent away to give birth and wasn't a regular resident in or around Croyden

She should also add her name to the Adoption Contact Register and hope that a birth relative has done the same.

https://www.gov.uk/adoption-records/the-adoption-contact-register

You could suggest that she opens a free account on here and add her own birth name and that of her birth mother. If she keeps the contact email up to date, she will be able to receive (but not initiate) messages to anyone who has searched for her.

As this person is hopefully still living, could you please explain your connection to her?
Use the search all members trees facility on here to see if anyone has her listed, then send a message

Check out births on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
If you know her mother's maiden name, you can decide which registration is likely to be correct. Then look for marriages approx 20+ years later.

As an aside where you aware of the board entitled 'Find Living Relatives'? Any similar requests (for people still living) in the future might be better posted there.
