They are gone but thank you everybody for your interest.

We do have a very good independant furniture maker in the next village but my mate is going to build me one.

There is a pub due to be pulled down locally. If the floorboards go i the skip then I WILL have a cheap bookshelf.

yes but if you drive down the main Fareham - Gosport road (Brockhurst Rd after the fort ) what you see are empty windows. Google streetview does not seem to have been that way for a while.

Has Sharon tried phoning them ?
Maybe they are trading without the shop as the web site is working.

The Reekies were from Scotland and have been in Gosport since the year dot. One of the Scottish lot owned a Glasgow puffer ( tug boat ) which was used as the "Vital Spark" in the Para Handy tv series. The Reekies must have been quite at home in Gosport, messy and nautical.

There is always IKEA at Southampton but even they have mucked around with the BEBO shelving.

I have an alcove that is 5' 11" wide and I was hoping to get a bespoke one to match the other.

Why my alcove couldn't be 6" wide I do not know. Probably for the same reason that my immersion heater is in the corner of the kitchen where you have to take out the cooker and remove a work-top to get to it and my bathroom has a picture rail.

I have had one of their bookcases in the alcove by the fire and have been wanting a six foot one for the other alcove and now the time is right the maker is gone!

Was looking for a book case to match one from Reekies and when we got to the shop it was empty.

Does anybody know if the business has closed or moved?
