Sorry. An error has occurred
No reply re: my e-mails to support.

They had it fixed for about 24 hrs and since then "My Threads" times out.
I don't have tens of thousands of postings. Taken togther with the broken search function GR are killing off the boards for any serious FH usage or anything much really. Perhaps that is what is intended.

I have no idea when it appeared but we now have under "News" "Genes Extras" with options for afternoon tea and such. So now we know what the new fashionistas from Russia have been up to while firing anybody who can write a line of code.

Can DCThompson FH resist the massed ranks of Ancestry, cheap free US FH sites and the Orcs or will it merge seamlessly into FB ?

All of a sudden I supposibly have two unread messages showing on the heading BUT I have no emails advising me ,or any unread emails in my inbox anyway :-( :-(

Have just sent a cross email to support to get it of my chest. Won't do anything but saves me hitting the screen

New one for me.....asking me to sign in
several times a day.

Haven´t been able to get into My Threads for 2 days.
Thought it was my laptop which has been suffering from hiccups for a while.
That´s one symptom to cross off the list of PC problems.

I have emailed GR once again.

Drop down, under Tools or via Watched Threads. All three routes time out. It started going a bit iffy on Wednesday, but with a certain amount of success. Since Friday its been the Error page

This evening if I select My Threads it says Waiting for GenesReunited for about two seconds and then stops trying, but there is no error message and no change in display.

If I go to Watched Threads, that comes up after a second or so, then when I select My Threads they are displayed almost instantly.

I started getting the Error message when trying to access My Threads on Wednesday ..... and still cannot get into them.

It worked fine for just 5 days :-( :-|

I still get the error message if I try to access "my threads" from the drop down list under the Community heading (it's been weeks since I could get them) but I've just tried the link on the left under "Tools" and after a very long wait it did bring them up!!!

I think they need to combine Genes with Findmypast and put some community boards on there that people can access with a cheap subscription if they don't want access to records. That way they could concentrate on keeping one website working properly and get rid of this site - which I'm sure they'd like to do anyway.

Glad (?) to hear someone else is having the same problem. They need to replace the gaffer-tape again. ;-)

My Threads is currently working just fine for me ................. but I did try that way round last week, and it didn't work for me!!


It's getting notification of pms that's now not working

Rose - thanks for the advice - just tried your method to go into "my threads" by going to "my watched threads" first, and hey presto, I got my threads for the first time in weeks :-D

I 'complained' politely on GR's FB page earlier today about the "non-operational" advanced search facility as regards having spent time researching a query when, had adv' search been working, I might have seen that all the answers to the query had been given before, and that if 'adv' search' was never going to be fixed they should perhaps remove it rather than 'offer' something they weren't supplying.
GR have apparently removed my post :-)
