Although not quite the same, we did see someone parallel park in an ordinary street. No hesitation, positioning or shunting, leaving about 6 inches clearance at each end.
He got out, locked the car & went on his way.

Like you, OH said he wished he could do that.

I require the space of a double decker bus to parallel park :-S

My car's longer than average and the turning circle is fairly wide, so parking isn't as easy as it might be.
However, parking sensors front and back do help.
