Not of course forgetting the French and the British that were killed or wounded in previous attempts to take the ridge.

Hard to believe what that battlefield looked like. There were 3,598 Canadians killed there and another 7,000 injured. Imagine that many bodies laying there!

It's hard to imagine but very touching when you see it, each old pair of army boots has a poppy in it.
